Juniper’s eyes widened as she became fully awake. “Karvik… I adore you.”

“And I love you, my mate. I never would’ve known such wondrous feelings if not for you.”

“Does this mean you’ll sneak me to the nearest city so I can get some more chocolate?”

I snorted. “Did you already eat everything I got last time?”

“Obviously.”

“Well, good news, I hid some behind—”

“The firepit stones. I already ate it.”

Huffing in resignation, I conceded to going back to the cursed human establishments with my mate, but Juniper just laughed.

“Don’t act like you don’t love the stuff more than I do!”

Instead of answering her, I pressed my face forward so she could pepper it with tiny kisses that I liked even more than the brown, sweet treat humans feasted upon.

Eventually, she deepened the kiss, and the small flame burst into a blaze, our passion burning hotter than the fire in our hearth.

And as we held onto one other, I embraced the peace that I found in Juniper’s touch. The world might call me a monster, but to my mate, I was someone worthy of her love.

We were two beings from different worlds, but in each other’s arms, we had found our forever, and it would always be more than enough for me.
