THE UNIVERSE IN US
by Dr. Calliope Guidry
Preface by Raleigh Tate
When my wife first started research on her project about the origins of the Universe, she could’ve never imagined it would end up in a book.
CalliopeGuidry added a note: We don’t need to tell people my husband is writing the preface.
TheRealRaleigh added a note: Nonsense. How else are they going to assume nepotism?
Most of the research in astrophysics ends up in research papers, which, while absolutely crucial for the progress of science and the expansion of our knowledge about space, are hardly the most approachable to the general public. Trust me, I’ve tried reading them.
CalliopeGuidry added a note: You understand them perfectly well.
TheRealRaleigh added a note: Shhh. It makes me more relatable.
Which is why books like this one are so important. To make our knowledge approachable; after all, it’s made for the good of humanity as a whole, not a chosen few. The study of space isn’t the study of something alien, inconceivable; it’s the study of humans, ourselves. We don’t come from Earth; we come from the Universe itself.
CalliopeGuidry added a note: Awww.
From the first clouds of gas that condensed into stars (possibly refutable; but you’ll have to read the book for that theory), from the magnificent supernovae explosions that created most of the elements we see around us, and are made of—we are space. We are the Universe. Therefore, it only makes sense that we’ve always been drawn back toward the stars. They are our home.
Jessie97 added a note: Guys, this is so cool!
CalliopeGuidry added a note: Jessica? How are you commenting here?
Jessie97 added a note: You gave me access when you hired me to do the photos for the book.
CalliopeGuidry added a note: You’re not supposed to—how do I un-add her?
TheRealRaleigh added a note: Halfway to the Nobel Prize, and she doesn’t know how to revoke access.
CalliopeGuidry added a note: Make fun of me and you’re not getting dessert tonight, if you know what I mean.
Jessie97 added a note: Guys. I can still see this.
But let’s go back to the beginning, or the attempted study of one, anyway. To research the origin of the Universe is a dream of many a budding astrophysicist. However, it’s easier to be said than done. Even after decades of all the greatest minds putting their

efforts into it, so many mysteries still remain. You won’t find all the answers in this book, but that’s no reason not to keep reading. After all, its goal is not to serve you all the answers on a silver platter but to make you think. Make you wonder and make you want to know more.
CalliopeGuidry added a note: I love it. Makes me want to know more.
TheRealRaleigh added a note: I can’t tell if this is an innuendo or not.
CalliopeGuidry added a note: I mean, I do want to do more research.
TheRealRaleigh added a note: Serves me right for marrying an astrophysicist.
CalliopeGuidry added a note: Don’t worry. I love you, too.
TheRealRaleigh added a note: Do I come before or after black holes?
CalliopeGuidry added a note: How about: you’re the origin of my Universe.
TheRealRaleigh added a note: … I’ll accept it.
Jessie97 added a note: You still didn’t revoke access. Guys?
