Soul

I watched as Bryony danced with Lila and laughed. We’d been living at the compound for two months, and our house was finally done, much to everyone’s relief.

Grace did not want to learn control at all and spent her time soaking all of us. Happy or sad, Grace just let rip. It was amusing, but we all needed a break. The only one she behaved for was Anubis. Around him, Grace completely calmed down and had control.

Bryony and I had begun wondering if he was Grace’s anchor, as had several other people.

Maci and Ham had settled into lessons with Jenson, who Lila had recommended. It appeared Jenson wasn’t part of the Royal Harlots but had been known and courted by them. For whatever reasons, she had turned them down, and she didn’t discuss her ability. We were all curious, but none of us asked.

Bryony laughed as Lila swung her around. I saw her cut, proclaiming her my property, and grinned. Bryony loved her cut and wore it with pride. She was now the third old lady we boasted. It had taken a while, but Bryony had found her feet within the club and acted confidently around us all. Even she and Warden had found a balance, which was nice.

And my pain had gone completely. Bryony totally anchored me, and the pain I’d suffered around liars disappeared. Of course, I could still tell they were lying, but the agony those lies had caused had faded. Things finally settled, and I was looking to the future without dread.

Bryony was my entire world, and Keres and I would kill to keep her safe.

In fact, we already had.

I loved Bryony with everything I had, and she loved me back. A father to three and a brother in the club. Yeah, shit didn’t get much better. Well, not until I got my woman pregnant!

Characters.

Officers.

Berserker. He was Warden’s and Rosalea’s dad. He died when Warden had just become a brother from a heart attack.

Warden. President. Warden has the psychic ability of premonition, which takes form in gut feelings. Warden keeps an eye over the businesses and runs a club. He joined RBMC at twenty-one. He’s now thirty-one. His old lady is Iona.

Undertaker. He’s VP. Undertaker is a strong empath. He runs an illegal false identity business, and the Laundrettes which are legal but launder their illegal money.

Blister. He is the SAA, and his psychic ability is psychometry, the ability to read the past of an item. He runs a legal pawn shop but launders money through it for the club.

Dynamo. She is the Road Captain of the club. Her psychic ability is Telekinesis. She was kidnapped and drugged to render her unable to fight back and was trafficked. Dynamo runs an underground fighting ring, which is illegal.

Dare. She’s the Treasurer. She has a psychic ability to tell what will make money and what won’t. She works the club’s legal investments.

Kosmic. He is the club’s Secretary. His ability is Xenoglossy which means he can read and speak any foreign language. He also monitors the prospects as part of his duties. Kosmic runs an underground casino, which is illegal.

Wisecrack. He is the Chaplin, and his ability is to recognise people in pain, deliver and soothe pain. He runs the garage and parts store, which is legal.

Vogue. She is an Enforcer. Her ability is Pyrokinesis, and she’s incredibly powerful. Vogue’s power allows her to use her fire to burn a person alive while keeping them awake until the fire consumes their heart. Her sister Katie was trafficked. Vogue runs the brothel, which is illegal.

Bogeyman. He is an Enforcer. He is a weak telepath who can receive thoughts and read minds. He runs an enforcement/protection detail which is illegal.

Scorch. He is the club’s Cleaner. He runs the crematorium, which is legal but launders money for the club. They also use it to dispose of most of their bodies. He develops remote viewing.

Slasher. He is the Medic. Slasher has healing powers and can heal any wound. He runs the safe houses, which is an illegal business.

Noble. He is the Tail Gunner. His ability is to throw up a protective barrier, which can even stop bullets. He runs the bootlegging/smuggling side of things, which is illegal.

Members

Aura. He has an ability where he can see the auras of people. He runs the Real Estate Rentals, a legal business.

Oracle. He has visions of the future. He also runs the trucking service, which is legal, but does transport their smuggled items.

Romeo. He is a pure telepath. He can receive and send thoughts. He runs the legal Casino which launders money for the club.

Cipher. His ability is to link with computers and access their data. His actions are illegal because he can walk into any protected government or private business computers.

Soar. He runs a tattoo parlour, which is legal, but has money laundered through it.

Rook. He runs the nightclub, which is legal but has money laundered through it. He likes Vogue.

Wyvern. He runs the club’s bar in town, which is legal. But money is laundered through it.

Anubis. He runs a brewery which is legal.

Thunderbird. His abilities are Atmokinesis which lets him create and control storms. He runs the strip joint, which is legal but has money laundered through it.

Griffin. He runs a 5-star hotel which is legal but has money laundered through it.

Spice. He is the former VP and is now an Old Timer. His old lady is Lindy. He’s sixty-five and has been with the club for fifty years, joining at fifteen. He and Lindy have been together thirty-five years.

Pipe. He is an Old Timer.

Fists. He is an Old Timer.

Soul. His ability allows him to sense liars. He runs the graveyard and burials. Soul’s name is Jayden Charles.

Seeker. Her name is Cécile. She is an oracle, she speaks of prophecies and can have visions of the future. She informed Jameson and Warden that Oracle needed an anchor. She takes over the diner the club buys which is legal but launders money.

Craft. He is Cécile’s anchor, but there is something strange with their relationship. Etienne is tall, black and gorgeous. He stands around six foot four or five. He opens a boat yard to make custom sail boats.

Prospects

Priest. He is a prospect. His ability can calm and make animals do as he wishes.

Blue. He is a prospect.

Old Ladies.

Iona. She is Rosalea’s best friend and aged twenty-six. She worked as a hostess for events at a hotel. She is now working for the club.

Lindy. She is Spice’s old lady and the only one the club had left. Lindy and Spice met when she was twenty-three years old, and he was thirty. They’ve been together thirty-five years.

Bryony. She is divorced from her ex Madden and has two children. She works as an editor for two authors and has a generous settlement from her ex and a trust fund from her father.

RBMC Children.

Beau. (Lindy and Spice.) Beau is in the army and is thinking of retiring and wants to join the club as a prospect.

Lissy. (Lindy and Spice.) Lissy has split from her partner and is moving home to Camden. Spice describes her as headstrong and says she marches to the beat of her own drum.

Decker. (Lindy and Spice.) He’s the youngest and is a pilot in Hawaii giving helicopter tours over a volcano.

Hamilton. (Soul and Bryony). DOB 2017. He is able to block pain and does so for Maci. He is suspicious of everyone and hates his father for failing to care for Maci properly.

Maci. (Soul and Bryony) DOB 2018. She has Guillain-Barré syndrome and that has caused muscle weakness, and she uses a wheelchair. She is able to tell liars but also appears to be able to see what people’s abilities are by a colour surrounding them.

Grace. (Soul and Bryony) She is an abandoned baby who was Madden’s daughter. She has the ability to control water.

Family of the RBMC

Rosalea. She is Warden’s sister and is twenty-six and has been friends with Iona since they were three. She is a financial expert. Rosalea is now working at the club’s tattoo parlour as a receptionist.

Katie. Vogue’s sister. She’d been kidnapped by Traffickers and held captive for six months.

is suspicious of everyone and hates his father for failing to care for Maci properly.

CPD.

Noah Myers. He is a detective who wants to bring the club down. He is around thirty-five years old and a straight cop.

Club Whores.

Peanut.

Kiki. She breaks into Soul’s room and strips naked and tries to seduce him.

Maiden.

Siren.

Lolli.

Silky.

Riley.

Levi.

Rowan.

Bloody Scorpions MC. Based in Millinocket.

Tap. President.

Freak. SAA.

Screaming Barons MC. Based in Waterville.

McKay. President. He was involved in the murder of Weston Parks.

Duster. He was involved in the murder of Weston Parks.

Other Characters.

Madden Brighton. He is Bryony’s ex-husband. Maci got ill when he was looking after her and he didn’t get medical help which allowed her to develop Guillain-Barré syndrome. Bryony divorced him as he was a womaniser and with a woman instead of looking after Maci.

Krista. She is Bryony’s mom and slept with Madden. She is selfish and immature and narcissistic. Krista is on her seventh marriage.

Trevor. Works in the cemetery as the undertaker.

Julie. Cemetery’s receptionist.

Mariah. Does make-up for the bodies. She was attacked by a Deathstalker scorpion left in a wreath.

Mr Kane. Principal at Maci’s school.

Mrs Kingston. A teacher Mr Kane was having an affair with.

Mrs Knight. The receptionist at the school.

Miss Simmonds. Bryony’s lawyer.

Jerome Jacobs. A paralegal for Miss Simmonds.

Mike Adams. Security at the brothel. Looks like a younger Gerald Butler.

Jenson. A teacher with abilities.
