T he morning light filters through the windows.
Soft. Golden.
I watch Kenzie stir beside me. Her breathing slow. Peaceful. And for a moment, I just let myself be still.
Because this is everything.
For years, I thought happiness had conditions. That I could only have one thing at a time.
My career. Or Olivia.
My freedom. Or stability.
But now? I have all of it.
Kenzie’s eyes flutter open. She blinks, smiles sleepily. And damn if it doesn’t hit me all over again—
This woman blew my plans out of the water.
And I’ve never been more grateful for anything in my life. She stretches, her fingers brushing my chest.
“Mmm,” she murmurs. “You’re staring.”
I smirk. Don’t deny it.
“Can’t help it.”
She hums, tilting her chin up to kiss me.
Slow. Unhurried.
Like we have all the time in the world. Because we do. We really do.
Kenzie snuggles closer. Her bare leg tangles with mine. Her fingers draw lazy circles over my chest.
And me? I just soak it in. Because this is it.
The life I never thought I’d have.
For years, I’ve been waiting for the next fight.
The next game. The next win. The next loss.
But there’s nothing left to lose.
Only things to gain.
Kenzie tilts her head, eyes half-lidded but knowing. “What’s that look for?”
I smirk. “Just thinking.”
She arches a brow. “Dangerous.”
I feel my whole heart grow warm and soft.
I break away and she whimpers. “Shh, I just… I need to give you something.” I’ve been waiting for the right moment. And this is it.
Her eyes look at me hungrily as I reach into the pocket of my pants on the floor… and pull out her silver earrings. The ones she left in my hotel room in Denver.
She gasps and steals a kiss, murmuring, “You kept them all this time?”
“I knew I wanted to give them back to you once I was sure you’d stay.”
She whispers against my lips. “Took you long enough for that, too, Silver Fox.”
I huff a laugh. Then, without thinking—without hesitating—I murmur, soft but certain—
“Marry me.”
Kenzie stills. Blindsided. She blinks, stunned, like she misheard.
Her breath catches.
And for a moment, I wonder if I just fucked this up completely.
Then—
Her mouth curves into a slow, knowing grin.
And she throws a leg over me, straddling my waist.
“Say it again.”
My hands find her hips, holding tight. And this time, I don’t hesitate.
“Marry me, Flight.”
Her laugh is breathless. Her eyes bright.
And when she leans down to kiss me—
It’s a yes.
It’s always been a yes.
