Shine—
At ten minutes to four, I roll up at the clubhouse.
I didn’t leave Fiona until her mother came to take over and help with the baby. Janey and Ella were downstairs running the shop when I left.
Dismounting, I immediately spot bikes belonging to my president, Daytona and Trick, our VP, who must have made the ride over with him.
I hang my helmet on my handlebars and walk inside.
Rafe and Kyle are at the bar, but the minute I’m through the door, they’re in my face.
“My father’s not the only one who wants to beat the shit out of you,” Rafe says, his arms folded.
I lift a brow. “Take your best shot, brother.”
Kyle flings a hand out, holding Rafe in check. “We want to know what you’re planning to do about our sister and Dylan.”
“That’s between us, but I’ve got a sister, so I get your concern.
I’d feel the same way you do if the situation were reversed.
So, while I don’t like having my motives questioned, I’ll tell you I love Fiona.
I plan to make us a family, and I plan to do everything I can to make her happy. That satisfy you?”
“It does if you follow through,” Kyle states.
“I will. Got my word.”
Rafe studies me, then finally nods once, and jerks his head. “They’re in Cole’s office.”
I head down the hall and tap on the door.
“Come in,” Cole hollers.
The room is crowded with Cole behind the desk and his VP leaning against a credenza on the side wall. Daytona and Trick sit in chairs facing the desk, and Wolf stands next to Crash with his arms folded.
I stand in the only available area left by the door.
Cole meets my eyes.
“How are we gonna work this out, kid?”
“Fiona is not moving to Vegas,” Wolf snaps.
“I wasn’t asking you, Wolf. Simmer down.”
“I keep losing guys to this fucking chapter, Cole. You already took Reckless. Now you want Shine as well,” Daytona says.
“Nobody offered him a spot yet,” Cole says.
“Can I speak?” I say.
Cole nods and leans back in his chair.
“Before we even go down the road of where Fiona and I end up, I’d like to take the baby to meet my mother. She doesn’t like to fly, and it’s a long trip for her.”
“That’s reasonable,” Cole says.
“Fiona’s gonna flip her lid if you try to take that baby from her,” Wolf snaps. “Over my dead body.”
“That how you want it?” I ask.
“Enough.” Cole slams his fist down. “Daytona, what about that fucking asshole you’ve been tracking? He in the area?”
My president spreads his hands. “I honestly don’t know. We had some intel he’d left for Florida, but we can’t confirm it. Could be a bunch of bullshit.”
Cole drags a hand down his face. “Okay, here’s what’s gonna happen. You take Fiona and the baby for this visit. Reckless and Cody go along for protection. Plus, you’ll have Daytona and Trick on the way there.”
“Bullshit. No way,” Wolf counters, and jabs his thumb at his chest. “If anyone’s goin’, it’s gonna be me.”
“No, Wolf. Let Shine have some time with his son and mother without you glaring at them.”
“But Prez—”
Cole drills his eyes into Wolf’s. “They go, Wolf. That’s final.” He looks to Daytona. “You good with that?”
“Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.”
Cole lifts his chin to me. “Out.”
As I shut the door, I hear Cole speak.
“You better get used to the idea of the two of them together, because like it or not, he’s that baby’s father. This is happening, Wolf, so get right with it.”
