CHAPTER 15
T wo nights later, Annie found herself alone with Tom. They had received permission from the Laird to camp out by the doorway in the guards gathering room. She was very excited to test a few of her experiments, but also to finally be alone with Tom.
Bella hadn’t let up on her tactics to seduce Tom. Every time Annie found herself alone with him, Bella would show up. It became incredibly annoying and frustrating. Deep down Annie felt exhausted by it because she didn’t know Tom well enough to know whether or not he would push Bella away if she made advances on him. There was no way of knowing if they had even kissed or slept together. It was a secret that had been gnawing at her. She wanted to ask him straight out, but could she believe his answer? She hoped so.
Now waiting for Scathach to appear or show them a sign, she had all the time in the worlds to ask him.
“So what are we going to do, lass?” Tom asked as they arrived in the gathering room and headed for the doorway.
“I’ve brought some items for us to use. And a few blankets,” Annie said.
“Blankets?” he asked. His eyebrow rose.
“To put on the ground so that we can sit,” she said. “There's no point in sitting on the hard stone and I didn’t want to drag the chairs over here,” she said. “This will be easier.”
He gave her an amused look, but didn’t say a word.
Annie handed him a large blanket. He laid it down and then she laid another on top of it. She put her leather bag down with her notebook and another burlap sack with a few items in it. She sat down on the blanket and looked up at Tom. He towered over her. She saw just how immense he was, a true broad shouldered warrior. It made her heart leap.
“Will you sit with me or are you going to stand the whole time?” she asked.
He sat down on the blanket. He seemed amused by the entire situation, and she knew that he was indulging her. She was impressed by this. He could have easily refused her but here he was keeping his word.
“All right, what do we do now?”
“In my time we have figured out a few ways to speak to ghosts. I don’t have that equipment with me, but I’ve brought some substitutes. I know she may not be an actual ghost, but if she is, maybe it will work and Scathach will make herself known to us. If not, we’ll basically just sit here and try to notice any changes. Maybe the door opens on its own. Maybe a shadow will appear on the wall. I’m not sure what it will be or if there will be anything. We’re basically here to observe.”
“All right, lass. I do a lot of observing in dealing with medicinal plants. I can do that here too,” he said, grinning.
Annie pulled a few items out of the burlap sack. She set a few candles in their holders out on the stone floor near them. Tom lit them for her.
“And now?” he asked.
“And now we ask Scathach to make herself known and to give us a sign,” she said.
“Let’s have it then,” Tom said.
Annie grew quiet and then focused. “Scathach, are you here? We call you to us. If you are here, then give us a sign.”
It was silent and there was no response.
“Scathach, if you are here, blow out the candles,” Annie said.
Again, there was no response.
Annie continued on in this manner. Asking Scathach to do something that would alert them to her presence. But nothing worked. Eventually, Annie stopped.
“Maybe we should just wait and see if anything happens. As I said, it’s possible she’s not even a ghost, but just a time traveling witch, and if that’s the case, I can’t be sure any of these things will work in connecting with her.”
“That does make sense, if she can travel to your time and bring you here, perhaps she is doing that traveling from her own time, dropping you ladies here and then returning to her time.”
“True. Do we know when the ladies normally arrive?” Annie asked, wondering why she’d never thought to ask that before.
Tom shook his head. “I do not know. I’ve not been here when any of them, other than you, came through, and it was early morning at that point.”
“Hmmm. Then we’ll have to play it by ear. It could be random, or maybe a particular time that she does her traveling.” Annie tapped her chin in thought. “Maybe we should try the door and see if it opens?” she asked.
“I don’t know, lass, I would not want us to get swept in and lost in time.”
“I think you have to actually cross the threshold for that to happen. Just don’t go through it, okay?”
Tom nodded and moved to the door. He tried to lift the iron bar, but it was as if it were welded into place. Then he tried to push it up from the bottom as well, but it wouldn’t budge. He shrugged his shoulders at her. “I do not think we are meant to open it on this side ourselves, lass.”
“Hmm, it looks that way. Maybe we can try again later. For now let's just wait and see if anything unusual happens.”
“Well then while we wait…” Tom pulled out a flask of whisky. He took a strong swig then handed it to Annie.
She took a long drink. The liquid burned her throat, but she had become used to it and enjoyed it. Tom took a long drink of the whisky too as Annie watched him. She knew that he could handle his drink, and that only made him more attractive in her eyes. He was a man of many talents, but overall it was his manliness that she found the most attractive. His broad shoulders and thick muscular arms made her feel safe. No one could ever harm her when he was around.
Annie found that she couldn’t stop staring at his strong jawline and gorgeous eyes. He mesmerized her with his good looks. Then she saw it. His eyes shifted from her eyes to her mouth. She knew enough to know that he wanted to kiss her, and she ached for him to do it. She leaned closer. “Tom…” she said.
“Aye?” His voice husky and his gaze hooded as he looked at her.
“I… You?—”
Tom leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers. A moment later, he wrapped his arms around her and kissed Annie with deep passion. She had wanted him for what felt like so long that this feeling rocked through her. It was bigger than her. It was an energy that couldn’t be stopped or contained.
“I want you madly, Annie,” Tom whispered.
“I want you too, Tom. I want you more than you know,” Annie said.
Tom kissed Annie’s neck. She moved her head to the side to allow him to kiss her easily. Her skin came alive as his hands trailed over her. This felt like a dream to her and maybe it was because the magic was so thick. Was this the result of the environment, or was it something between them that couldn’t be described?
Tom’s hands moved slowly at first, up to her breasts. The palms of his hands moved over her erect nipples. She moaned as Tom touched her.
“Oh, lass, what you do to me,” he murmured.
Annie moaned in response to hearing his words. She reached for her bodice, freeing her breasts from the fabric. Tom’s eyes lit with fire as he took her in and then lowered his mouth to her breast.
“Oh yes, yes,” Annie moaned as his mouth caressed her sensitive skin. “Oh, Tom. I want you. I can’t take it anymore,” Annie said.
“What do you want? Tell me,” he asked.
“I want you, all of you. Please take me.”
“You only have to tell me once and I will, but we must be quiet though, the guards are just down the hall,” he said.
“Yes,” Annie replied, her head in a hazy fog of pleasure.
Tom gently laid her down on the blanket and lifted her skirts, before pulling down her stockings revealing her to him. He groaned with pleasure at the sight of her. He moved his strong body on top of hers. He positioned himself between her thighs.
Annie sighed in relief as she felt the full weight of him on her. She had wanted this feeling for a long time. Every fear and caution she had left her completely. Now the only thing that existed in the world was her and Tom.
Annie yanked at his shirt, pulling it up his back. He helped her and took it off. She kissed his bare chest greedily. She reached for him, beneath his kilt, running her hand over his cock, surprised that he wore no undergarments, but glad of it. It made things easier.
“Mmm that feels so good,” Tom moaned.
Annie moved her hand up and down Tom’s cock slowly. He groaned at each stroke. Their eyes locked and Annie couldn’t take anymore waiting.
She guided the tip of him toward her. Tom slowly slid into her. Satisfaction filled her as he began to move slowly, pushing deeper and filling her more.
“You feel so good, Annie,” Tom said as he leaned down to kiss her again.
“So do you,” she moaned against his lips, barely able to get the words out.
Tom moved faster sliding in and out of her. His thrusts moved deep and fast. Annie arched her back up to meet him. Their eyes locked and for a moment time stood still. The energy around them grew thick as a veil and coursed through her.
“I don’t know what this is. I feel… I feel…” Tom stammered; his eyes wide but still filled with desire.
“I know. I feel it too. It’s like magic. It’s like we’ve been here before,” Annie said.
“It feels as though we are bonded, as though our spirits are joined. I’ve never felt anything like this before. You are everything, Annie,” Tom said.
“Yes, Tom, yes,” Annie moaned.
Tom kissed her as he began to move faster and faster. They both moaned, but tried to keep their voices soft to not draw the guards attention from down the hall. Only it sounded like to Annie that her voice echoed off the walls.
Tom’s deep groans filled her head as though she could feel them inside of her. They were intertwined and locked in a vortex of sensual energy that Annie had never experienced before.
“Oh God,” Annie moaned. Before she could say any more, she climaxed. Her body shuddered and she pushed her face against his strong chest. The ecstasy took over her.
“I’m close,” Tom whispered.
His fast movements were delicious in her sensitive state. She held onto his back as he finally released inside her. He trembled and kissed her sweetly and softly. He rested his full body on top of her hers as she buried her head on his broad shoulder.
Then they were quiet for moment.
“That was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before,” Annie murmured. “It was incredible.”
“Aye, t’was the same for me, lass. I haven’t the words to describe it,” he replied, sounding exhausted.
After a while they both fell asleep. Annie woke to find that one of the candles had gone out. She didn’t know if it was a sign or nothing or at all.
