Hawg (four months later)

I grin from my spot against the back wall, darkness somewhat shrouding me as my ever-present laptop runs in the background.

Watching as Scythe dances with Tamara, has me looking over to one of the tables where Portia sits.

Surprisingly, she wasn’t too broken up by Tim’s death, but from what Scythe shared that Tamara told him, she hated him and the only reason she stayed was so that he wouldn’t take her kids from her.

Those fundamentalist fucks definitely have a few screws loose, that’s for damn sure.

The old ladies have taken her and the kids under their wing, and she no longer looks like a scared rabbit facing a coyote.

In fact, she’s about to start her schooling to become a nurse.

“Wait, what?” Scythe yells. The music shuts off and he twirls Tamara in his arms then yells, “I’m going to be a father!”

I snicker because I already knew. I was walking into the infirmary yesterday when I overheard Tamara and Roxy talking.

Seems that even though she had one of those implants for birth control, the heavy-duty antibiotics that Saber and Roxy had to give her negated its effectiveness and she got pregnant.

Apparently, she decided to tell Scythe once they officially tied the knot.

I see a small smile gracing Portia’s face and wonder once again why I’m so fucking drawn to her.

Maybe it’s because she’s quiet, like I am.

Maybe it’s because she’s a good mom, but not only that, she’s great with all of my brothers’ kids.

I just know I’m beyond intrigued by her at this point and if I’m being totally honest with myself, which I always try to be, I want what so many of my brothers have found over these past years.

As cries of congratulations reverberate around the room, I decide that maybe I’ve found what I’m looking for and I didn’t even have to look. She came to me.

At least, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
