“ A nytime now would be fine,” Sol told him the moment they had closed the door to their suite overlooking the ocean at Casa del Mar. She sensed Luke’s shoulders relaxing.
“Thanks for getting us a room,” Luke teased her.
“That goes directly to the Sol Novo Trust as an emergency expense. But I didn’t mean that.” She scrunched up her nose in exasperation. “What the fuck is going on? What were you doing, following me?”
Luke made a face, trying to deny the accusation, but she cut him off.
“Shush.” She took her right index finger to his soft lips. “I know you were following me. I’d also like to know why we couldn’t go back to Lola’s.”
“Other than the fact that we’ve needed to be alone in a space outfitted with four walls and a bed for days ?”
His tone was pure insinuation, and she knew he was doing his best to make her questioning hard.
He wanted her to give up, but she wouldn’t, even if it was almost impossible to ignore how hot he looked with that sexy smile on his face and those hungry eyes that kept eyeing her like the most delicious prey.
“Yeah, other than that,” Sol said, trying but not completely succeeding at playing it cool. “Everything I have, which isn’t much because my suitcase is still missing, is at Lola’s. We have absolutely nothing with us here.”
She was slightly preoccupied about her skin care routine, even if she knew she probably had more important things to worry about. But then again, she was forty-three. It wasn’t as if she had the luxury of any oversight when it came to sunspots, wrinkles, and dryness.
“I think we have exactly everything we need here,” Luke said, his voice velvety, his arms around her waist, and his fingers already under the sweater she’d borrowed from him, tracing a descending line from the small of her back directed to her ass.
She needed to intervene.
“As much as I want, and need , this to happen,” she said, reluctantly intercepting those rogue fingers on her body and stopping them, “I need you to start talking first.”
“You need me to start talking more than you need this ?” he whispered in her ear as he urged her against the wall, one of his legs pushing between hers.
“You’re making this extremely difficult,” she said, relaxing against his touch and letting his lips caress her neck and shoulders. Just feeling his breath on her skin made her shudder. “Okay, I surrender,” she said, allowing her eyelids to close and her body to simply feel.
“Are you sure?” His voice alone could make her tremble.
And it wasn’t lost on Sol that he’d said those words in his huskier tone, after unapologetically getting her out of his sweater, and with his lips trailing a path of utter heat and destruction on her upper body .
“Your mouth is already on one of my nipples, and that hand you’ve so masterfully gotten under my leggings is headed in one direction.” She whimpered all the reasons she was sure she was his to do as he pleased.
“It could technically be headed for more than one place. But yeah,” he told her as he pinched her nipple with his lips, her clit with his fingers.
“I can’t think rationally,” she said. No, she moaned.
“So how do we want this to go on, then?” he asked because, of course, he’d guessed she had requests. He knew her that well.
“I know you’re going to have objections. But I really need this to be fast ,” she said, and while Luke started groaning, she interrupted him. “Don’t complain, Luca. You’ve already managed to get the order in which things are happening altered. We’re fucking first—and talking after.”
“Can we shag first, do all the talk you seem to need after, and make slow unhurried love after that?” He looked at her with a raw yearning in his eyes.
They were so close to the ocean that she could hear the sound of the waves washing against the Santa Monica coast. She could even smell the saltiness of seawater in the room. Or perhaps it was Luke’s labored breathing that she was smelling. His fragrance had always reminded her of the sea.
She didn’t reply. Not with words. She simply returned his stare. Whatever you want .
