“ The Truth ”

Traveled ahead, long ago.

Waiting for my arrival.

I ’m grabbing my towel and climbing out of the shower when my phone lights up on the sink.

“Hey, you good?” I answer.

“Hey, how’s Milwaukee?” Ana?s asks.

“Haven’t seen it. Went straight from practice back to my room. Hold on.” I place the phone and switch to speaker. “Go ahead.” I towel off and then pad over to my duffel and pull out briefs and a T-shirt.

“You saw Zuri?”

“Yeah.”

“She helped?”

“Yeah.” I’m still hit with OCD flare-ups, but I don’t feel lost anymore. “Turns out it really isn’t about Aiden. Tell you more when I see you.”

“Okay. Have you spoken to Salem?”

I pause getting dressed. “Why?”

“Nothing. He’s fine.”

I blow out a breath and continue sliding my tee over my head. I owe him an explanation for being distant lately.

Fuck. I miss him.

“I wondered if you heard an update about his brother?”

“His brother?” I reach for my phone charger. “What about him?”

“If they found him.”

I pick up the phone and kill the speaker. “What are you talking about?”

I knock on the hotel door.

“Yo,” Sid calls out.

“Got a sec?”

“Yeah, hold on.” There’s a shuffle. “You solo?”

“Yep.”

I hear his footsteps approaching before the door opens.

“Hey,” he says.

“Why’d you ask if I was solo?”

He turns the iPad screen pressed to his chest toward me, and a sleepy Ty appears on screen.

I nod. “My bad. I need to duck out, but I’ll be back in the morning. Cover for me?”

He raises an eyebrow. “Going out? We’re in Milwaukee, bro.”

“The Lions beat Chicago a few hours ago,” Ty says.

“Ah!” Sid replies with a smirk. “Have fun.”

“Good lookin’.”
