EPILOGUE

SCHARLETT

“I’m going to put a tracking device in you.” Daddy walks around the corner, shaking his head, heading to where Juniper and I are standing.

I look at him sheepishly. “Sorry. We just saw deer, and I didn’t want her to miss out on them. I think they are going to Uncle Aiden’s house to keep him company.”

“I have no doubt they are going to keep him company while he waits for his Little girl to arrive.” Daddy wraps his arms around my waist.

“If you let me talk to some of my friends about visiting, I bet I could find him someone fast. They are willing to do the background check and fill out all the paperwork,” I remind him. “You just have to tell me it’s okay.”

Technically, I don’t need his okay since they could visit on their own accord and Daddy would never know, but I don’t want to go behind his back.

Daddy sighs. “Maybe in a little while you can. Let everything cool down right now.”

He kisses the side of my head, and I lean into his body, letting myself relax. It’s been a couple of days since the whole ordealwith Harold. Daddy told me he would never be bothering me or anyone else again, and I took that for him being dead. A huge weight has been lifted off me, and I feel so much lighter and free. Everything is turning in the direction I’ve always wanted.

“When are Brix and Elijah coming back?” I ask.

They went to pick up a girl from a town. I don’t know when they actually went or if they are back. Everything has kind of been a blur.

“They’ve been back for a couple of days,” Daddy replies. “They got the girl.”

“When do I get to meet her?” I ask as I turn around.

Daddy pulls Juniper from my arms and cuddles her. Oh, to be held like that right now and just be able to snuggle up.

“Let’s go home.” Daddy holds his hands out as if he knows what I’m thinking.

I’ve been a lot clingier since everything happened with Harold. I can’t help it. I thought I would never see him again, and here I am, spending every single day with him and loving it even more than before.

I hold of his hand and start walking back to our cabin. “Do you think I will be able to meet her sometime?”

“I’ll let Brix and Elijah know you want to meet her, but they are spending some time with her and getting to know each other,” Daddy explains. “I don’t know when you will be able to meet her, though.”

I push my bottom lip out and let out a great big sigh. While there are a lot of other Littles on the property, I haven’t been able to meet any of them yet. Part of me doesn’t want to since most of them leave never coming back, but the other part of me wants to meet them so I can have more friends, even if almost all of them are online.

“Do you think she is going to stay on the mountain, or do you think she’ll go home after her stay is up?” I ask as we climb the stairs.

He opens the door and walks into the living room, setting a sleeping Juniper in her crib before pulling me into his lap as he sits on the couch.

“I don’t know. We are just going to have to wait and see,” Daddy replies and hums. “But I have a feeling Brix and Elijah are trying their hardest to get her to stay.”

“As long as they don’t force her,” I mumble.

Daddy runs his hands up and down my back as I lean into him, fully relaxing.

“They aren’t going to force her to do anything she doesn’t want to do,” Daddy tells me. “They would never allow that to happen to anyone else, but I won’t allow it, either.”

“Good.” I let out a sigh and close my eyes. “Thank you for everything.”

Daddy kisses the top of my head. “Thank you for coming.”
