“They’re the number-one killer in the world! I will not calm down!”
“Well, they’re attracted to CO2, so could you at least shut your mouth?”
Winter threw him a look.
Bobby tried to slam the mosquito onto the table using the Bible, but it was too quick for Bobby’s sloth-like reflexes. It ended up biting Bobby in the neck.
“God damn it!” he yelled.
“Don’t say that with the Bible in your hand, Robert!”
He threw the Bible down, and the mosquito landed on his arm. “Now it’s after me!”
Winter threw one of the chair cushions, and it hit Bobby square in the face. “I’m sorry!”
“What were you aiming for?”
“The mosquito, obviously!”
“That was not obvious.”
The mosquito flew back over to her. “What kind of mutant mosquito is this? It’s after me again!”
“I told you to shut up,” he said, swinging at it with the cushion she’d thrown at him.
Winter screamed and ran to hide behind Bobby. She crouched down, her hands clasped around his shoulders as she used him as a human shield. It was then that she noticed he was shirtless.
“Why are your hands always so cold?” he asked, flipping around.
Winter’s face became hot, and she jumped back, tripping onto the bed and pulling Bobby down with her. The wind was completely knocked from her lungs. Bobby struggled to get up, pinning Winter against the bed. She was wide-eyed, and her breath had completely stopped as he covered her entire body with his own.
“Bobby, you can get off me now,” she said, tucking her arms into her sides.
“Don’t be coy now. You slept next to me all night.”
The blood was pumping hard through her ears. “Bobby—”
“Just shut up for a second and don’t move. It’s on your arm.”
Winter stayed perfectly still, and Bobby paused for a few moments before swatting the pesky mosquito with a resoundingsmack.
“Ow, Bobby!” she said, rubbing her arm where he’d smacked her.
“I’m not going to lie, that was really satisfying.”
“Well, could you kindly get off me now?”
“Could you thank me nicely?”
“Thank you, Robert Dae-seong Bae Jr.”
Bobby smiled and rolled over next to her. When she looked at Bobby, he was grinning. He was so strange. Most of the time he had something up his ass, but other times he was almost... charming. When you’re not actively flirting but come off as flirty anyway, that’s charm. Unless he was, in fact, flirting. That would be a different story. Winter scooted away a few inches so he wouldn’t notice her discomfort.
“How’d you sleep?” he asked.
“Fine, I guess.”
She was being modest. That was the best she’d slept in a long while. That is, until she was attacked by a prehistoric beast and realized she was in Bobby’s bed.
