The knock sounded again. “Who is it?” Douglas asked as he began stroking them again. Mav’s bottom lip was caught between his teeth, his hands clenched around both of Douglas’s wrists.
“Freddie.”
“Is it urgent?” Douglas pumped harder, and Mav whimpered.
“No,” Freddie said hesitantly.
“Can it wait until dinner or after?” Douglas fought to keep his voice steady.
“Sure. See you soon.” Now amusement ran through his voice.
“We’ll be there shortly.”
“I’m sure you will.” Freddie chuckled.
Douglas grinned at his brother’s words, knowing Freddie knew what they were doing. “Come for me, Mav,” he whispered in Mav’s ear.
Mav muffled his moan with his own hand as he came over them both, with Douglas following several strokes later. Douglas let his hand slide off Mav’s eyes and burrowed his face into Mav’s neck. They allowed their breathing to return to normal before Douglas pulled away and dragged Mav towards the bathroom. Luckily, Mav had left some clothes in his room the day before because there was no way they could wear their current outfits.
“I can’t believe we did that.”
Mav covered his face with his hands, cheeks darkening to a deep rose colour.
“Freddie doesn’t care. He also won’t tell anyone.” Douglas divested them of their clothes.
“It doesn’t matter. How embarrassing. I won’t be able to look at him now.”
Douglas chuckled and pulled Mav under the spray. “Come on. Let’s get ready.”
They didn’t mess around in the shower, although Douglas washed and dried every inch of Mav.
“I’ve noticed you haven’t had many headaches recently.” It had been something that had been rolling around in Douglas’s mind for a while, and he was sure he was right, and Mav hadn’t been hiding them from him.
Mav frowned and paused in pulling on his trousers. “You’re right. I’ve had the odd niggle, but no migraine.”
Douglas smiled. “Good. Although we know how to fix them now.” He winked.
Mav’s mouth curled. “It’s because the troublesome prince I usually have to deal with has gone on hiatus.”
“Hey!” Douglas threw one of his socks in Mav’s direction.
Suitably dressed, he linked their hands and left the room, tugging Mav’s hand occasionally to keep him moving. He explained the few rules they had for the dinner table, and when they entered the dining room, everyone was already there. His mother rose with a smile and stepped closer, holding her arms out for a hug as she always did.
“Douglas, I’m glad you could make it.” She kissed his cheek and turned to Mav, enfolding him in her arms. “Maverick, I’m so happy you could join us. Come, let’s eat.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty.”
“Oh, pfft. Call me Louisa.”
“Um…Uh…”
Douglas hid his smile. “I think you broke him, Mother. He’s strict with his manners. It might take him a while before he can do it.”
She smiled and tapped Mav’s cheek lightly. “You’ll get there.”
Douglas guided Maverick to sit next to him. “Relax,” he whispered.
“I’m trying,” Mav mumbled back.
