Page 66 of Risk It All
“It's not bad. At least, I don't think so.”
“Okay.”
“There's no way I can go home tonight without bringing you with me. Emma probably won't let me back in the house if you're not with me, and my parents will want to meet you . . . formally.”
“To make sure I'm suitable?”
I wonder if Max thinks his upbringing will be a problem for my family. Of course, it won't. My family cares about character, not cash.
“By now my mother has already talked to Eleanor and learned you're more than suitable. I think she's half in love with you too.”
“Your mother?”
“No. Eleanor.”
“I'm a lovable guy.” He grinds his hips against mine, sending delicious sensations shimmering over my skin.
“Don't I know it. But before you show me just how lovable you are, do you think you can come home with me? Even if just for a night? You probably have to get back to work soon.”
“I can manage a few days. My staff has probably locked me out of the office, anyway.”
I arch one brow. “Mutiny?”
“I haven't been much fun to be around since returning from London.”
“I don't know, you seem pretty fun to me.” I wrap my legs around him, pulling him deeper inside.
“You've fixed what ailed me. But are you sure your parents want me around? Isn't it your dad's birthday?”
“Absolutely.”
“Will they separate us? Because I kind of like being with you like this.” He dips his head, laving his tongue over my breast.
“Yes,” I say on a sigh. “But we can get you in a guest room far away from the main rooms and I'll sneak out to see you.”
“What if we get caught? Does your dad have a shotgun?”
“Yes, but I don't think he's ever shot it, so you're probably safe. Besides, all you need to do is go fishing with him to get on his good side. Do you fish?”
“Yes, but I'm not very good at it.”
“Perfect. You might need to play golf too.”
“Do I have to let him win? Because I'm pretty good at golf.”
“Maybe. I'll let you know once they've gotten to know you better.” I lift my head and press a kiss to his neck, inhaling the sexy scent of him. “Now, what's this I hear about you being lovable?”
Max grins, and shows me exactly what he means.
