Page 39 of Ridin' True
When it was time for me to dismount, Jed held out his arm to assist me. Once I had both feet on the ground, I avoided eye contact as I ran my fingers through the ends of my hair. I found no knots, which was a relief, but I barely had a hold of myself when he handed me my purse.
“Thanks,” I murmured.
The sight of him and his tousled hair completely eradicated any attempt I made to distract my libido.
Jed didn’t respond but took hold of my hand and headed for my building. As soon as we got to my door, he stopped me, dropped my hand, grabbed my jaw between his thumb and index finger, tilted my head back, and brought his lips to meet mine.
His kiss was ravenous from the start, and it was exactly what I needed.
As he worked my mouth, his hand slid from my chin down to my neck, his fingers eventually finding their way into my hair. He grabbed a fistful as I reached up to drape my arm over his shoulder, wanting him closer. He then hooked his other arm around my waist, yanking me flush against him, and I gasped, unable to help myself.
I never wanted this kiss to end.
It was everything.
Too soon, I lost his mouth as he pressed his forehead against mine, both of us panting.
“Fuck me, I was right.”
“Right? Right about what?” I breathed.
“Those lips were meant for kissin’.”
Boldly, I skimmed my fingers up the back of his neck and into his hair, not ready for him to go. “Do you want to come in?”
“Gorgeous, I do that, I’ll be takin’ your clothes off. You got me half hard already.”
I knew he felt it as I sucked in a breath of excitement.
Still, I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea to be so impulsive.
There was no doubt I wanted him, but I didn’t want to screw it up. Not any of it.
“Um, okay, uh—I don’t know. I mean, I guess, technically, if things pan out with the club, you’d be a client, kind of. And I, um, I—I don’t know your end game here, so—”
“No games here, darlin’. Said it before. You want me, you got me. I sure as fuck want you.”
“Okay,” I said, instantly spinning around in his hold.
I couldn’t say no to that. I simply didn’t have it in me.
I fumbled with my keys, the feel of Jed at my back too distracting. When I couldn’t get it in the lock, he reached around me, took the key, and opened my door. The second we were inside, I dropped my purse to the floor, he closed us in, tossed my keys I didn’t know where, and then we were both reaching for each other.
I could have stayed just like that—both his arms around me, mine around him, his tongue in my mouth—forever. For a few blissful moments, he let me have that.
“Prefer the bed, would settle for the couch. Where we goin’, Lex?” he mumbled against my lips.
Even in the fog of my lust, I knew a man the size of Jed would likely break my couch. I didn’t even hesitate as I replied, “Bed.”
He took hold of my hips and spun me around. “Lead the way, darlin’.”
This time, it was me who grabbed hold of his hand as I led him down the short hallway that ended at the only bedroom in my unit. Like the rest of my apartment, I kept it simple. Everything was white with gold accents. My duvet was wrinkled linen wrapped around a fluffy comforter. I had a beige throw blanket I draped over one corner at the foot of the bed. I didn’t have room for a dresser, but I managed to squeeze in two nightstands—simple, mid-century style with light wood. In the corner, across from the door, I propped my gold, arched, full-length mirror. I had a tan, leather ottoman beside it, where I usually sat to put on my shoes.
We crossed the threshold, and then it was Jed tugging me, headed for the metal table lamp situated on the nearest nightstand. He switched it on, let me go, then shrugged his way out of his vest. I watched as he laid it purposefully across my circle ottoman before he redirected his attention on me.
He kissed me while he worked my jacket off of my shoulders. Once at my wrists, I flicked it onto the floor and reached for the hem of his shirt. He helped me rid his chest of the garment, grabbing a fistful between his shoulders and yanking it over his head.
My Lord—he was massive, and he wasbeautiful.
