Ruby’s seated on the edge of her mattress, chewing nervously on her nail as she eyes me warily.

“So,” she starts, shifting to face me. “I, uh?—”

I roll my eyes at her, flopping back against the pillows with my arms tucked under my head.

“We already know you and Meg are shagging,” I tell her, rolling my eyes. “It’s fine, go have fun.” At least one of us should, but I don’t utter that last part.

She blows out a breath, her shoulders sagging with relief. “Thank fuck.” She stands, grabbing her bag. “I’ll be back in the morning before we head downstairs for the bus,” she assures me.

“Have a good night, Ruby,” I say, chuckling as she legs it out of here.

I grab the remote, turn the telly on, and flip through channel after channel. After wasting what was probably ten minutes of my life, I turn it off and grab for my phone, searching for an audiobook.

Not a damn thing catches my eye, but without anyone here to talk to, I press play on my favourite mafia rom-com. I’ve read it an embarrassing number of times, and it never gets old.

Naturally, I left off on a smutty scene that has me rubbing my thighs together, and it’s most definitely not helping my already horny mind.

Bloody hell.

I toss and turn, trying to get comfortable before succumbing to the fact that I won’t be relaxing tonight. I reach over to turn off the lamp, hoping sleep will find me.
