“I guess you’re right.” I was okay either way, but I kept it to myself. “Let’s get out of here because I have something else planned for you at home.”
She wiggled in her seat. “I can’t wait.”
Hours later,I stared at Junicia as she slept after we had sex. I noticed she never touched the wine the day before. I didn’t ask her about it at the time, but if my suspicions were right, she was pregnant. I was hoping one of my seeds would make it. She was already my wife, and I was ready to have some babies with her.
Life had come full circle, and I couldn’t have been happier than I was with her.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” she asked groggily. She had one eye cracked, peeking at me.
“Is there something you need to tell me?” I smiled down at her.
“Nope.”
“Junie, don’t play with me. You didn’t drink any of the wine and it’s your favorite. What’s going on?”
She sucked her teeth and rolled over. She reached into the drawer near her side of the bed and handed me a box.
I took the box from her hand and shook it. Junie sat up and leaned against the headboard with the sheet covering her. I sat up as well to open the box.
There was tissue paper covering something inside, so I pulled it out and sat it on my bedside table.
I smiled at the mug inside, but when I pulled it out of the box, my eyes watered. I looked over at Junie, and she bit her bottom lip. She was nervous for some reason.
“World’s best dad.” I read the words out loud. My eyes shot over to Junie again. “This for real?”
She nodded with tears coming out of her eyes.
“You’re pregnant?”
“I am pregnant. That’s why I didn’t drink the wine. I just found out a couple of days ago.”
I put the cup down and pulled her into my arms.
“Thank you, Junie. You already make me happy, but you having my baby just sent me over the moon.” I kissed all over her face, and she giggled.
Once I calmed down, I adjusted her on my lap, so I could cradle her. I looked down into her eyes and kissed her.
“Who would have thought I would be married and pregnant by neighbor bae?” She smirked.
She told me how she and Lauren used to call me neighbor bae before she found out my name.
“I wouldn’t have thought it either. I love you so much, Junie, and I will spend the rest of my life protecting not only your body, but your heart, soul, and mind. You and my babies will never have to worry about anything as long as there is breath in my body.”
I reached under the sheet and rubbed circles on her stomach.
“And I will do the same thing for you, Franklin.”
We shared a kiss and sat in silence with her still in arms. I didn’t need anything else in life but Junie and our future children.
The End!
