Page 35 of Red Fury (The Dragon Tributes #8)
F ury
Shadow is on her back; her legs are spread wide as I kneel between them, our eyes locked as I push in and out of her. I look down between her legs where my cock is sliding in and out of her tight heat.
Holy shit!
I don’t think I could ever tire of this view. Her breasts jerk backwards and forwards with each hard shove of my cock.
My balls are pulling tight. I’m not going to last for too much longer. It doesn’t matter that this will be my fourth orgasm. She feels so damned good. So perfect. So right. I need to come again.
I reach between us and rub gently on her swollen nub. She moans, arching her back, letting me take her deeper.
Holy hell!
I speed up as my balls tighten so much that I hurt. My lower belly, too. Everything hurts so damned good.
I groan and grunt and then groan some more.
Her face slowly changes from enjoyment mixed with a touch of desperation to something else.
It starts to go slack. This is it. By now, I know the signs.
I know her body. I see a haze of pleasure in her hooded eyes as her mouth falls open.
Her pussy flutters…slowly…slowly. Her eyes widen.
She groans deeply as her pussy tightens around me.
My balls tighten and tighten and then release, my seed spilling from my body in hard spurts as her pussy clamps around me.
We groan deeply in unison, my movements becoming more erratic. Her eyes roll back in her head as she calls my name.
My orgasm seems to go on and on, rolling through my entire body like molten fire. I feel it everywhere, from the tips of my toes to my scalp, spreading through every nerve ending until I swear I feel it in my very soul.
Holy fuck!
As we come down, her eyes are soft, vulnerable in a way I’ve never seen before, and something shifts inside my chest. Steel was right. Fuck me, he was right. I think I might have developed feelings for her.
I keep thrusting into her, slower…easing off. Dragging our pleasure out as long as I can. She arches her back. Her nipples are tight. She calls my name, rocking into me. Still milking me, which seems impossible at this point.
I have feelings for Shadow.
Shit! This is bad.
I can’t examine that right now. I can’t let myself go down that path when we need to focus on getting us out of here alive.
I stop moving, still locked inside her. Still hard, which is crazy. I shouldn’t be. Even now, I want her again.
Instead, I lean down and kiss her softly, my lips gentle against hers as the last tremors fade from our bodies. My hand strokes down her leg, marveling at the smoothness of her skin, the way she shivers under my touch.
“That was…” she breathes against my mouth.
“Yeah,” I agree, not needing her to finish the sentence.
I pull back, pulling out of her. My dragon doesn’t like it. He wants more, too.
I smile because I’m so glad to feel him, even if he is still muted.
I stand, immediately noticing how much stronger I feel.
I try to summon him properly.
“You good?”
“Yeah.” I nod. “I’m definitely stronger but not quite where I need to be.
” It’s much better, though. So much better.
The small holes from the darts are gone.
I feel stronger…more alive. “I feel my dragon, but I can’t…
I…” I huff out a breath. “I must still have that drug in my system because I’m still more human than shifter. ”
Shadow stands too. She closes her eyes and takes in a deep breath. I watch as scales suddenly pop up all over her skin. She opens her eyes with a gasp. She laughs as they recede.
“Whoooo hooo!” She stares down at her arms in wonder.
“I can feel her again. Really feel her. It worked, Fury,” she says under her breath.
“I could probably manage a full shift…not that I will do it,” she quickly adds, still smiling.
“It must be because I was given that drug a few hours before you. Although I’m pretty sure they gave me some sort of sedative, too.
I was out for a long time while they transported me.
Anyway, she’s back. My dragon is back,” she whispers.
The joy on her face makes something warm bloom in my chest. I love seeing her happy, love watching that fierce light return to her eyes.
“Do you think you can break us out of here?” I ask, nodding toward the heavy door. “Quietly? I’m not strong enough yet, but I don’t want to wait. Kozlov might change his mind about allowing us to be together.”
“I don’t want to wait either.” She examines the door frame, running her fingers along the metal reinforcements. “I’ll give it a try. It’s going to take some effort, but I think I can do it.”
Shadow reaches down for her dress on the floor and pulls it over her head, wincing.
“You okay?” I ask.
She laughs, a flush creeping up her cheeks. “Just a little achy between my legs. In a good way, though. I’m not exactly used to this much…um…action.”
Despite everything we’ve been through, my cock hardens again at her words. I look down at myself in amazement, pressing a hand over my very obvious arousal.
“Apparently, neither am I,” I mutter, shaking my head. “And I clearly like it. A lot. My cock wants more.”
We both start laughing. It’s part amusement, part nervous energy from our ordeal. It feels good to laugh, even in this nightmare situation.
“We can’t do it again, though,” she states the obvious.
Disappointment still slams into me even though I know she’s right. Especially now that I…that I have feelings for this female. It complicates things. “Of course not, we need to get you back to Draig. You missed your flight. Then we continue with this mission.”
“I know. By now, my Council will be shitting bricks.”
“Let’s get out of here, and you can call them.”
“You make it sound so simple.” She smiles and then licks her lips. “I’m so thirsty.”
“Me, too,” I grumble.
Our gazes drift to the water bottles and sandwiches the guard left earlier. “We can’t risk it, can we? They might contain more drugs.”
“They might,” I agree, much as I hate it. “We can’t trust anything they’ve given us. Again, we get out of here and we’ll be fine. This is our one chance.”
Shadow rolls her eyes and snort-laughs. “No pressure. You know exactly how to make a person brim with confidence.”
“What do you mean? I have every confidence in you,” I tell her.
She looks at me for a few long seconds and then nods. “Okay, then,” she groans. “I guess I’ll make quick work of the door, being silent while I do it,” she jokes.
I chuckle as I grab one of the blankets from the mattress and wrap it around my waist, tying it securely. It’s not much, but it’ll have to do.
“You can do it,” I tell her.
Shadow moves to the door, pressing her hands against the frame.
Her muscles strain as she pushes, scales flickering along her arms as she calls on her dragon’s strength.
The metal groans softly, but she keeps the pressure steady, working to push the door from its frame without making too much noise.
She grunts and groans until the door finally gives way with a crack. She catches it before it can crash to the ground, and I rush to help her lower it gently to the floor.
“You did it.” I mouth.
“That was loud,” she mouths back.
We stand there for a few moments, sure someone will come running.
When all seems clear, we tiptoe through the underground corridors toward the stairs.
Shadow points up at the stairs and then shows me the sign to keep quiet. It doesn’t take long before I hear them too. Two guards positioned at the exit.
“Fuck me! I think those two are going at it again,” one of them says.
“Again?”
“I think so.”
“It gets louder each round,” the other one mutters.
Shadow holds up two fingers, and I nod. She’s already moving, wanting to use the element of surprise to her advantage.
“I suppose that it is their last night together.”
“It might even be their last—” The first guard doesn’t even see her coming before she’s behind him, one arm around his throat, cutting off his air supply.
The second guard starts to yell, but she kicks him in the throat using the first guard as leverage while she continues to choke him.
Guard Two grabs his throat. Before he can recover or raise the alarm, I get him into a headlock. Within seconds, both guards are unconscious on the floor.
I give her the thumbs-up.
We make our way up the stairs and through the building, staying in the shadows. Outside, there’s one more guard patrolling the perimeter. Shadow goes after him, trying to get him in a headlock as well, but this time, he reacts too quickly. He twists his body, freeing himself with a low growl.
Then he lunges at Shadow, who blocks the blow.
His second punch gets her hard in the gut.
I have no doubt that if she were at full capacity, it wouldn’t faze her; perhaps he wouldn’t have gotten her in the first place, but right now that isn’t the case, and she goes down.
I put myself between Shadow and the guard.
His next hit connects with my jaw, but I barely feel it.
My focus is on ending this prick quickly so I can get Shadow somewhere safe.
My punches are precise and brutal, but the vampire is fucking strong. That and quick. It’s like watching a blur. I’m still not at full strength, and it shows.
He gets a few hard punches in, and I stagger back. By now, Shadow is up and on him. I join in, and the two of us finish him off, cutting off a yell of alarm, but not before it punches into the night. He drops to the ground like a sack of shit. That, too, sounds louder than it should.
I’m sure someone must have heard that.
“Run!” I whisper-shout.
We get to my SUV just as the guard on the pavement starts to rouse.
Dammit all!
“Hurry!” Shadow urges when she sees the guard shake his head, trying to stand.
I key in the code to the compartment in the wheel well of my car. There is a beep, and my spare set of keys falls into my hand.
I unlock the vehicle with the press of a button, and we both jump in.
“Shit,” I mutter as I start the engine.
I push on the accelerator, and we take off with a screech that has me wincing.
“You’re coming to my apartment,” I tell Shadow. “I’m not letting you out of my sight until you board that aircraft to Draig. We’re sticking together from here on out, and we’re not going to argue about it.”
Thankfully, she nods without protest. “Agreed,” she sighs.
As soon as we’re moving, I feel my dragon shift closer to the surface. He’s furious, radiating rage and bloodlust. He wants to kill Kozlov, wants to tear every vampire in that building apart. But more than that, he wants me to mate with Shadow.
Mine!
Mine!
He wants me to claim her completely.
What the fuck!?
I’m so happy to feel him this close again, but I have to set him straight.
No!
We can’t mate with Shadow. She isn’t for us.
Nothing has changed. Not a single thing. My dragon snarls his displeasure but settles.
As I pull away from the curb, glancing in the rearview mirror, Shadow suddenly starts laughing. It starts as a quiet chuckle but quickly builds until she’s practically gasping for breath.
“What’s so funny?” I ask, though her laughter is infectious.
She tries to speak but breaks into fresh peals of laughter. Finally, she manages to get the words out between giggles. “I just…I never thought that sex would be the answer to our problem. That sex would literally save us!”
The absurdity of it hits me, and I start laughing too. It feels good, even though it probably shouldn’t.
“You’re right. Drugs suppressed our beasts and fucking like rabbits brought them back again,” I tell her.
“Rabbits.” Shadow shakes her head, her eyes glittering as she laughs hard.
It’s a few seconds before we compose ourselves.
“I really hope we don’t get pulled over by the cops,” I say, glancing down at my blanket-wrapped waist and her tiny white dress. “I’d have some serious explaining to do.”
We both look at ourselves and start laughing all over again.
When we finally manage to get ourselves under control, Shadow’s expression turns serious.
“Can you take us somewhere where we can shift? I need to be in my scales again, especially after being so suppressed. I hated that, Fury.” She bites down on her lip and tears well up, but she blinks them back. “I didn’t think we’d make it out of there alive.”
“Neither did I there, for a moment. I hated it too. Not being able to feel him. There’s a place on the way back to DC,” I tell her. “A state park with plenty of remote areas. By then, we should both be able to shift.”
For now, I just want to put as much distance as possible between us and those bastard vampires. As I turn onto the main road, turning back, I catch one last glimpse of Kozlov’s building in the distance.
The whole top floor is aglow. Every light is on.
They know we’re gone.
Of course they do, and I’m sure they’ll come after us.
I press harder on the accelerator. Let them! This time, I’ll be ready for them.
This time, they won’t catch us off-guard.
Bloodsucking fuckers!
