“ F uck.” I rushed up the steps, running across the porch before I opened the door, scanning the house for Cameron. “Babe!”
“Hey, what’s going on?”
I spun around, relieved to find her safe and unharmed. “I need you to pack a bag. Quick.”
She knew me well enough to understand when I wasn’t joking around and obeyed me without question. “Tell me what I need to know.”
This woman. She saw me at my worst and helped me to become the best version of myself. Cameron accepted the dark parts of me and didn’t hesitate to love both the man and the Reaper. She was fucking everything to me.
And now she was having my son.
The Reaper’s presence filled my mind as he snarled. No one harms our woman or child.
He didn’t have to tell me that. I knew.
When I opened my mouth to explain, Rael knocked on the door and opened it, not waiting for me to answer.
It didn’t bother me. We often just walked into each other’s houses unless it was too early in the morning or late at night.
We tried to give one another privacy. But being twins and losing out on being a part of one another’s lives for so long, we were almost inseparable now.
Seeing the earnest expression on his face, I already knew why he had left Nylah to come over. “Cam is packing a bag right now.”
My brother nodded. “Good.” He began to pace the floor, his shoulders tensing along with his stiff stride.
Rael was pissed. I didn’t need the Reaper to know that. My twin’s emotions were as transparent as my own.
“We’ll take care of this,” I assured him as Cam reentered the room. “I need to tell her what’s happening.”
Rael headed toward the door. “I’ll be outside.”
Once he stepped onto the porch and closed the door, I turned to my wife. “Earlier today, a man wearing skull-themed face paint showed up next door and tried to enter the house while Nylah was home alone with the boys.”
Cameron’s eyes widened. “Oh, shit. Is she okay? Are the twins alright?”
“They’re all fine, but Nylah is spooked. She’s worried he’ll come back.”
Cam rushed into my arms as I opened them. “We’re staying with them,” she concluded.
“For now, yes. Just until we find this fucker.”
She picked up on the part I didn’t say aloud. “Then you’ll make sure he can’t come back or anyone else who would have a reason to harm our family.”
“Yes.” Our family. Me, Cam, and our baby, but it also included Rael, Nylah, and their three children. “I won’t risk your safety or the rest of our family.”
“What do you need from me?”
The way she selflessly asked, dropping everything to be my anchor, tugged on my heartstrings. This woman was so fucking perfect.
My Reaper rumbled my chest in agreement.
“Stay with Nylah and keep growing our baby boy. That’s it.”
“What if I need to be in our bed, holding onto you?”
“Babe, I can, and I will fuck you wherever we find a place to sleep.”
“As long as there’s no kids around,” she added.
I snorted. “Right.” Playfulness aside, I had to ask the question on my mind. “You gonna be okay? Not worried or stressed? Because I don’t want that shit bothering our son.”
“I’m fine and so is he. Don’t worry, Noah.”
She kissed my chin, and I sighed. “It’s not safe to linger outdoors. Never go out alone if I’m not there.”
“I know the routine. Tell your Reaper to chill,” she laughed.
He growled at her with a playful nip at her lips. “I think he wants you to take this seriously, Cam.”
“I am, but I also have complete faith in your ability to keep me safe along with him.” She winked. “Also, in me being a badass bitch.”
I shook my head, humored at her words. “You are.”
“We’re good, Noah. Let’s lock up and head next door. I want to check on Nylah.”
I picked up her bag and walked her out, locking up the house as we joined Rael. The three of us crossed the lawn and entered through my brother’s front door. Cam left my side to hug Nylah, and the two women left us standing in the living room as they went into the kitchen.
“Did they find him?” I asked, turning to Grim.
“Not yet, but it’s only a matter of time.”
I had to agree with him. No one eluded a Reaper for long.
“TELL ME YOU’VE GOT him,” I growled into the phone as Grim turned toward me, awaiting my response.
“He’s in the fucking dungeon right now, Rael, ready for a little rehab,” Wraith confirmed.
“He’s at The Crossroads,” I informed Grim.
“Tell Wraith to break him in,” Grim growled, opening the door to leave. “I’ll send in Diablo, Bones, and Shadow.”
“I’m staying,” Chrome announced. “Cam needs me. I don’t want this to become a relapse for her. If it does, I’ve got to be by her side.”
Grim nodded. “I get it, Chrome.” He ticked his chin toward me. “You comin’?”
Of course. “Let me tell Nylah. I’ll meet you out front.”
He strode across the porch and descended the stairs, heading toward the club members keeping watch outside and around the perimeter of my house.
I walked into the kitchen, not surprised to find Nylah and Cam seated at the table, drinking hot tea, and sharing a snack. It was good that they were here together and for each other. They could keep each other company and provide a distraction from the chaos earlier.
If you could fucking call it chaos.
I didn’t dwell on it because I’d just get pissed, and I wanted to handle shit the right way. Staying calm, I approached my ol’ lady, bending down to kiss her sweet lips before I told her I was leaving. “Need to handle this shit, kitten. We’ve got a little girl coming in a few weeks.”
She agreed, pecking me on the mouth. “Take care of it, Rael. I have a feeling she’s going to make an appearance sooner than we think, and I’ll need you.”
I had to be here because I was fucking gone the last time she went into labor. If it happened a second time, I’d be pissed. Nylah would cut off my balls. It wasn’t an ideal situation.
“You think she’ll come early?”
“Maybe. She’s running out of room in there,” she joked. Rubbing her stretched stomach.
“Want me to help it along later?” I asked, keeping my voice low.
“After all that’s happened, I could use time alone with you to take my mind off it all.”
“Done, my love. I’ll have you seeing stars in the best way.”
She smiled, and I nearly grinned back until I noticed that it didn’t extend to her eyes. “Don’t be gone too long.”
“Define too long. I don’t want you to feel stressed.” Shit. I needed to talk to the fucker who dared to come to my house personally, but not at the expense of my ol’ lady. “I’ll stay and let Grim handle it if you prefer.”
She shook her head.
Thank fuck.
“Go. You should be there.”
“I agree. The only way this ends is to find out everything I need to know. If it’s hours, Nylah, I’ll text.”
She already figured as much. “I just feel safer when you’re here.”
“I know. Listen, my brother is staying.” I glanced at Cameron, and she seemed relieved.
“A few of the club members will stay too. Plenty of protection. I shouldn’t be longer than midnight.
Just need that cocksucker to talk long enough to get what we need from him and ensure no one else is planning to take his place. ”
I wasn’t taking any chances with her safety or my twins.
“I know. Wash the blood off before I see you.” She was only half joking. It was highly probable I’d have stained clothes by the time I finished interrogating the prisoner.
“Tell you what, I’ll shower before I come home. Then I can’t join you in bed and get to work making my woman come.”
“I heard that,” Cameron announced.
“Get my brother to dick you good,” I fired back.
She waved me off. “I think that’s evident by my swollen belly, don’t you?”
I snickered, unable to hide my humor.
Yeah, we both had luck in that department, but it was also our huge cocks and the skill we used with them.
I didn’t say that to Cam, but her lips twitched like she thought about it at the same time I did.
I lowered my head and kissed Nylah, lingering long enough to deepen the kiss so she could feel the promise behind it and all I planned to do to her later. I’d wipe every memory of today from her mind. “I love you, kitten.”
“And I love you.”
Nothing more needed to be said.
