Page 52 of Rattler's Revelation

I gape at Rattler as he greets Spock and the woman. I was in shock and didn’t hear her name when he introduced us. However, before I can remedy the situation, her phone rings.

“Excuse me,” she says, stepping away as she answers the call.

“Who is she?” I ask Spock, who is watching her with a look of longing in his expression.

“Her name is Chloe,” Spock says. “She and her father own the construction company we hired to develop this site.”

“She was a good choice,” Puma says, joining us. “We interviewed dozens of firms before Spock found her.”

We all turn our attention to Chloe when she emits sounds of distress and aggravation. “What hospital is he in? What do you mean he refuses? Okay, okay. I’m on my way.”

Chloe ends the call and whirls around. She stops short when she finds all of us staring at her.

“What’s wrong?” Spock asks.

“My father was attacked at another site. He was doing a walkthrough, and someone hit him from behind. He refuses to go to the hospital. I’m sorry, Spock. I need to take care of him. I can’t believe they’ve escalated to violence.” I don’t think she meant to voice the last part.

Puma straightens and snags her eyes. “What do you mean? Who are they and what have they been doing?”

Chloe looks lost, but she takes a deep breath. “Someone has been sabotaging my work sites. They’ve been vandalizing equipment and stealing supplies. I thought it was just kids, but now I’m wondering…” She shakes her head. “I can’t think about that right now. I need to get to my father.”

“You aren’t going alone,” Puma says. “Mount up.”
