Shock shone in Tom’s eyes as he looked at Kade. “Good thinking. It’s stunning.”
Kade smiled. “I bought it the same day I was supposed to secure the cabin for her. I’m just not sure if it’s the right time to give it to her. I’m not sure she loves me enough.”
“She does,” Tom quickly said. “I’m sure of it. But she’s not even divorced yet. You can sort of understand why marriage may not be appealing just yet.”
“We don’t have to get married straight away. I just want her to understand I’m in this for the long haul,” Kade said.
Tom shut the box and pushed it over to Kade. “I think deep down she knows that. Tell her what you want.”
Kade hesitated, but took the box and put it back in his pocket. “Chance would be a fine thing. She’s avoiding me like the plague.”
Tom smiled like a sly fox. “I think that’s about to change.”
“What do you mean?”
“Where do you think Kendra is? I told you I’d help you, and I’ve got Kendra on the job. She’s probably singing your praises right now. She thinks you’re the best thing that’s happened to Lexie, by the way.”
Kade’s face broke into a grin. He clunked his beer bottle against Tom’s Coke bottle. “Brilliant. And women think they are the romantics.”
