“Yes, we figured that Tina was extra, since Dakota was obviously the intended target. They are definitely a mobile ring of traffickers that sell women for anything and everything, be it sex trafficking or worse.” Raso answering looking around the room at the men.
“Worse than sex trafficking?” Cookie questioned not understanding the statement.
“The men or women they normally sell to have one goal in mind…” Raso stated, pausing to let the statement sink in.
“Sex trafficking, we have time to find them. This ring, it’s way worse unless the buyer wants something different. This trafficking ring is selling girls to serial killers.” Brocard finished for the team.
“What the fuck?” The men all yelled out looking around at each other horrified.
“I wish we could say this was something new, but we can’t. Tex did some research while Tina was sedated, using the new search parameters we came up with. He found at least seventy-five similar cases around the country in the last five years. There’s no telling how many more and how long this has been going on. The ring is mobile, exclusive and to the point with the website that the buyers are vetted in depth. There were some serious firewalls that Tex found.” Pratt announced to the men.
“Is Dakota dead?” Wolf asked, sounding worried about the girl.
“At this time, we don’t think so. We now know Candy and Ruiz sold her to someone going by the name Ares. They are being picked up now for interrogation.” Brocard shook her head, looking over at her team.
“That fucking bitch!” Several of the men growled out.
Brocard’s phone rang, causing her to step away. Several minutes later, she returned upset. “Candy is in the wind. Ruiz was shot several times trying to escape in a shootout with the deputies.”
“Did he survive?” Eddie asked, pissed off.
“No, he was dead by the time the medics arrived.” Brocard shook her head, slumping her shoulders.
“So, what now? God, I feel like I’ve been asking this a lot lately.” Eddie mumbled.
“We keep hunting for Dakota. Captain is issuing a nationwide alert for Candy. All airports will be on lockdown where she is concerned. We will turn over every rock, knock on every door and do whatever it takes to find them both. We are also calling in some favors from some powerful figures to help us find out who Ares is also.” Brocard assured the men in the room.
“I’ll be making some phone calls to get some major help on this as well.” Pratt said before walking away as she pulled out her phone, leaving the room.
