Story: Property of Bigfoot (Kings of Anarchy MC: New Mexico #1)
SAMMY
Bigfoot was freaking out the morning of our wedding. I knew because I could hear him shouting the clubhouse down looking for his best man. “I hope Baffle gets here soon,” I muttered to my soon-to-be mother-in-law.
“Me too or that boy will be in a world of hurt when he does show up.” She eyed some of the women who were sequestered with me. As if the “can’t see the bride before the wedding” applied to all of them too. “Roxy is hoping your wedding will make Baffle realize it’s time to settle down.”
I hated to break it to either of them, but I was fairly certain Baffle wasn’t interested in Roxy. Not as anything more than an occasional fuck buddy at best. Then again, I didn’t really know because the man played his cards tight to his chest. The only person who stood a chance at guessing something like that was my fiancé.
“I’m here fucker, can you pipe down before you raise the dead?”
“That’s not funny!” Bigfoot declared as I peeked out the door and watched the two men embrace in that weird back slap, half hug hybrid thing they did. There was a woman staring adoringly up at Baffle from just off to his side. As soon as he pulled back from Bigfoot, my man asked, “Who is this?”
“Funny story,” Baffle nervously chuckled as he admitted that. “This is Nell, my wife.”
“Your what?” Bigfoot asked, clearly shocked by the development.
“Your what?” A woman screeched from somewhere beside me. My ear started to ring as all the women flooded out of the room we’d been holed-up in. “You had better be fucking joking, Patrick fucking Mendoza! We were supposed to get married!”
“You were engaged?” The woman who Baffle claimed to be married to asked in a soft voice.
“No. I was not engaged. I wasn’t even dating anyone before I left.”
“You know good and damn well we were always supposed to end up together!” Roxy shouted. When Baffle didn’t so much as blink at her assertion, she turned her claws on the seemingly meek woman who was wrapped under Baffle’s arm. “You conniving little whore!” she shouted before she launched herself at Nell.
Bigfoot caught her before she could make contact and bellowed. “Punchy, you better get over here and get your daughter! I am not putting my wedding off because she can’t handle reality when it hits her.”
That was a little cold, but then again, I didn’t ever remember seeing Roxy by Baffle’s side the way that he had Nell tucked against him. There was a bit of a scuffle and eventually the woman was escorted out and the music started up that was supposed to signal my walk down the aisle.
I glanced around and was only mildly disappointed when I didn’t see my dad anywhere. Our arrival back at the clubhouse was greeted with the news that Brian never showed up to collect Ryan from Bigfoot’s mother. She ended up keeping him with Hawk the whole time we were gone. Neither Josh nor Brady knew where he was either. My heart hurt for poor little Ryan. We already had to explain to him that his mother was gone, and now my dad had pulled a runner and didn’t even bother to stick around long enough to walk me down the aisle.
Brady moved in about the same time Crutch came to my side. “Looks like you have a choice, young lady,” Crutch offered.
“Please, don’t be offended, but I want Uncle Brady to be the one to give me away. He’s been the most like my dad since my mom passed away.”
“No explanations needed. I just didn’t want to see my beautiful daughter-in-law left in the lurch when she was in need of an escort.”
“Thank you, Crutch.”
“Anytime, darlin.”
I took Brady’s arm, and he guided me to the makeshift aisle. Before I knew it, he offered my hand over to Bigfoot who looked at me like I was the best thing he had ever seen.
We said our vows; whatever Smooth made us repeat since he was the one to get ordained to marry us. I couldn’t remember a bit of it because I was focused on the man who had crashed into my life and turned it upside down in the best way possible. At a time when it felt like my family was coming apart at the seams, he was there to stitch the ripped pieces back together for me.
As we danced our first dance together, we watched as Punchy made his way to Baffle. There was a lot of pointing and arguing before Baffle finally lost his temper with the man. “There’s nothing to explain, old man. Roxy and I were never even dating, let alone in a serious relationship.”
“You telling me my daughter was just your fuck buddy?”
“I’m telling you that I drunkenly slept with her one fucking time three years ago. Other than that, we’ve only ever been good friends. The best of friends at times. I don’t know where she got this fantasy of marrying me stuck in her head, but that is Roxy’s problem not mine, and I won’t have you disrespecting my wife like this. I brought her home to meet my club family and so far she’s been left feeling like an unwelcome mistake. I won’t fucking have it, not in my own home!”
Crutch made his way to them and finally got Punchy to back down. As he took him back out of the clubhouse, Bigfoot snatched my hand and pulled me back toward his office.
“Where are we going?” I whispered as we sneaked away.
“We’re going to find our favorite supply closet because I don’t want to watch everyone’s fucked-up soap opera drama when I could be fucking my wife instead.” I giggled.
“We could have just as easily made a break for it upstairs to our room.”
He shook his head. “Nope. Someone would have noticed us on the stairs. In here,” He closed the office door behind us and locked it, “we can disappear to a place only a few people know exists.”
I giggled again because the majority of the club knew about the cave system beneath the clubhouse property. While part of it was used for the grow house operation, the other part was used as an escape tunnel in the case of an emergency.
“Wait, is Colleen still down here?” I asked because no one had ever given me a real answer as to what happened to her. At one point, I assumed she was dead because I’d been told repeatedly that I didn’t have to worry about her ever again. Still, there was a part of me that needed to know.
“This better not ruin our wedding fuck,” Bigfoot lamented. Then he took both of my hands and pulled me into the supply closet where we fucked the day I tortured Colleen. If you could call it torture, since it only took being stabbed twice and smacked with a knife for her to cooperate.
“You know how you stuck her with those two knives?” my husband asked me.
“Yeah, of course, I’m the one that put them in her thighs.”
“Well, the second one nicked an artery or something. Dime went to pull the knife out after they got all the information they could from her, and it started to spurt blood everywhere. The guys who were still down here with her were kind of shocked that it sprayed like a thick fountain, and no one thought to stop it. By the time they got something to tie it off and put pressure on the damn thing, it was too late.”
I laughed so hard it hurt. “So, in other words, the damage was done, so they watched her bleed out?”
“I guess, if you want to put it that way, sure.” Bigfoot hedged.
I rolled my eyes at him and then leaned up on my tip toes to kiss his lips. “I appreciate you trying to protect me or whatever that was you were trying to do, but there is no need to lie to me ever. You tell everything to me straight and we will never have a problem. Got it?”
“Got it,” Bigfoot agreed. “Now get naked because I need to fuck my wife.”
