Page 60 of Piggy
Panic floods her expression. She grabs a fistful of lingerie from a nearby stand. “I’ll wear this! I’ll do it. Sleep with me instead! ...Just me.” She grimaces as she adds, “On camera.”
Something inside me snaps. I can’t take it. Her unwavering loyalty, that shameless attitude to do anything for me.Everything I want. It’s too much.
“Charlotte!” I roar. “Stop. Move on. I’m not your goddamn boyfriend. I never was.”
Her face drains of color. She nearly buckles at the knees.
I try to step around her, butstill, she clutches my arm in a death grip.
“Grayson,” she begs, voice cracking, “I just joined a gym. I was trying to be better for you And it ruined everything. Why? I was so good to you.”
My heart stutters.
She throws her whole body against mine, clinging to me like she can hold me in place. “What did I do wrong?” she says.
But I unhook her roughly.
“Get off me,” I dismiss firmly. “This pays more than my job at the docks.”
“Damn it, Grayson! Please!” She points at Meghan. “Don’t sleep with her. It’ll break my heart!I love you.”
Those words.
My heartstops.
Theworld blurs.
I spin her around and shove her ass toward the door, fast and cruel.
“No, Grayson! Don’t you dare!” she squeals, full pig-mode, fighting me the whole way. “You love me too much! I know you do! And I love you! See how I’m fighting for you?”
“Shut the fuck up, Piggy!” I yell, slamming the door on her sobbing face and locking it.
The echo of her words hits harder than any punch I took.
Through the door, she bellows, “I believe in true love! Don’t prove me wrong… youfreakingcoward!”
I lean back against it, panting from grappling and pushing out that hurricane of a woman.
I glance over.
The others just stand there, silent and gawking.
Chapter 17
Charlotte
I rest my ear on the door. Footsteps fade.
Grayson walks away from the door to go screw some pornstar.
I love him. I said it.
How could he push me out and just walk away?
I brace myself.
If I hear her moan... If I hear him give someone else the pleasure he gave me...
