Page 54 of Persuasion (Temptation 2)
He quickly finished putting everything into the equipment bag and zipped it up, slinging it over his shoulder. My hand enclosed in his, we jogged across the field, the steady rain increasing with every passing moment. My hair was stuck to my face, sundress clinging to my skin…
Yet I didn’t care.
I should have hated this. Soaked to the bone, hair a mess, sundress muddy as we sprinted toward the field house. But none of that mattered. Being out in the rain with Lachlan was…freeing.
When we finally reached the equipment shed, Lachlan made quick work of the lock, heaving the door open. Slipping inside, he dropped the equipment bag with a thud, both of us panting as we attempted to catch our breath, rain dripping off our bodies.
His gaze briefly dropped to my heaving chest that didn’t leave much to the imagination now that my sundress was soaked through. As his eyes returned to mine, heat swirled within, the atmosphere instantly shifting.
I didn’t have a chance to brace myself before he advanced, backing me up against the wall, his lips crashing against mine in a searing kiss I felt from the top of my head to the tips of my toes.
I melted into him, wrapping my arms around his neck, tugging him as close as possible. But no matter how close he was, it wasn’t enough.
It would never be enough.
He was my drug. My remedy.
My perfect addiction.
“Lachlan,” I moaned as I hooked a leg around his waist, pulsing and craving.
“What the bloody hell are you doing to me?” He peppered kisses along my collarbone as his hand roamed to my leg, hitching up the skirt of my dress.
When his fingers dipped beneath my panties, I released a cry of relief, moving against him, needing to feel him. To lose myself in him. To drown in him, never to resurface again.
Hand hooking into the side of my panties, a sharp burn shot through me as he ripped them from my body. I yelped, but any momentary pain was replaced with desire when he pushed down his shorts and brought his erection up to me.
Our gazes locked before he thrust into me, my eyes going wide as he filled me to the hilt. He stilled for several moments, neither of us moving as we basked in this sensation.
Then he exhaled, slowly retreating before driving back into me. But this time, he didn’t stop. He thrust over and over again, relentless and unforgiving as he chased what he needed.
As he gave me precisely what I needed.
And that was the hard truth I now had to accept.
Lachlan was exactly what I needed. But was that a good enough reason to stay?
To put his life at risk?
I didn’t know if I could stomach the thought of having any more blood on my hands.
And there wasn’t a single doubt in my mind.
If Nick found out about him, there would most certainly be blood.
