“And…you didn’t tell me?I could’ve used that against her in a divorce.”

“And your father would’ve probably made you get married again.I was biding my time.Fortunately, I didn’t need to use it then, because your father got sick and you filed, so I could hold it in reserve in case I ever needed it.Never empty your clip if you aren’t sure the enemy is dead.Strategic shots work better than a random spray.”

I’m…processing.

But he’s right.

“What else do you have?”Liam asks.

Daniel smiles.“Never ask a magician to give up his secrets, Master. But let’s just say a lot.”He rises on his toes to kiss him, then me, even though there are still people in the hall who can see us.“Let’s go get cake.”He walks past us, heading for the conference room door.

Liam and I turn, stare at each other, then stare at Daniel as he enters the conference room.

“That’s fucking scary,” I mutter.

“You’re telling me,” he says.“See why was terrified to own up to him, at first?”

I nod.“Yes, Sir.”

He takes my hand, lacing fingers with me.“Ready to have cake?”

“And eat it, too?”I joke.

He laughs and leads me toward the conference room.“Yep.And eat it too.”

I let him lead me into the room as the truth settles deep in my soul.

I am home.

I am happy.

I am blessed.

God, if You really exist, thank You.I appreciate the win.

More than anyone will ever truly know.
