Page 7 of Only for You: Tap and Taryn

As late summer heat baked the town Taryn and Tap worked hard to build something real.

Something bigger than each of them, combined into a love that was strong, and true.

There were dozens of picnics by the river, where both bared the scars from a lifetime of longing.

He understood that while she’d left and married Ricky Sanders, he was never the one she’d wanted in her bed.

And she understood that Tap hadn’t been celibate, which meant she ran the risk of running into one of his exes in the town they’d both chosen to live in.

Lovemaking between them was always a revelation.

They came together with eyes bright, smiles at the ready, and hands that would wander in the most wonderful of ways.

It didn’t matter where they were, outside under stars, inside in the bed, caught up in their attraction and on the couch—they showed their love in a thousand ways.

Taking things slowly and worshipful, hands mapping the other like territory reclaimed, or ensuring the other bore the marks of that relationship in love bites and bruises. It was aways filled with…

“I love you,” he said one night, buried inside her, eyes locked. Something he told her frequently.

“I love you too,” she replied, tears mixing with sweat.

Paul Sommers made sure they were never bothered by Ricky Sanders again, and life in their little town settled into expected routines. Town gossip had turned to acceptance, and then a quiet expectation.

Tap proposed on the anniversary of her crash, ring in hand. “Marry me, Taryn. Let’s make this love last forever.”

“Yes,” she breathed, sealing it with a kiss that promised everything.

Taryn had Denise as her matron of honor, and Tap picked ‘Topher as his best man. The wedding was small, only those close to the couple were at the church to witness their vows.

The reception felt like it included the whole town, and Tap thought that might not be far off.

They did the usual customs including the greeting line.

It felt like it went on forever, and it was only the knowledge that Taryn was his forever that kept Tap from scooping her up and running away.

Cake portions were eaten sedately, no frosting in anyone’s hair.

The first dance came, and as Tap heard the song Taryn had selected, he pulled her in for a long kiss.

It was the same one they’d danced to at that prom so long ago.

Their wedding might have been small, but the honeymoon? It was filled with wild, possessive nights in a remote cabin, their naked and sweaty bodies entwined, and both their hearts mended.

In the end, Tap’s beat only for her, now so much stronger, unbreakable. And Taryn had found her way home, in his arms.

Only For You is a short story that started way back in 2017. I received a dollar bill in change, and on the bill there was a promise that resonated deep inside me:

Forever 3- Tap Taryn

I hope you enjoyed their path to love as much as I did!
