Acepromazine— A sedative used primarily in animals and illegal to use in professional equine showmanship arenas.
Cow Horse —Workingcow horseor reinedcow horseis a type of Western riding competition in which horse and rider are tested for the ability to work cattle.
Crossties —Two ropes that connect to the horses’ halter, holding them in place.
Lope —To gallop or run.
Mechanical Cow —A flag that is on a pulley system where the rider can move the flag back and forth to mimic a cow’s movements.
Reining —A judged event designed to show the athletic ability of a ranch-type horse within the confines of a show arena.
Tack —Gear used for working and riding horses, i.e., saddles, pads, bridles, bits, etc.
Trot —To jog or run.
Untack —To remove gear after riding.
Wild rag —Cowboy scarf
