Page 19 of Not What He Thought
“About what?” Mason asked, fairly sure he already knew the answer.
“About the fact you live here in Castle and I’m a plane ride away. We’ll never get to see each other.”
Mason reached out and pulled Seb into a hug, holding him tight against his chest. “I’ve waited a decade to feel this happy. I’m not going to let you go now.” His mate snuggled into his chest, placing kisses all over his pecs. “We will figure it out. I promise.”
A knock at the door heralded an end to their time.
“I’ll get it while you finish getting dressed.” Mason opened the door, not surprised to see Kate on the other side.
“I hope he’s happy?” she asked, arms crossed, an I-mean-business scowl making her features look cute in an angry kitten kind of way.
“Morning to you, too,” he replied. “And, yes, he’s happy. We both are.”
As he finished talking, Sebastian stepped up behind him. “Morning. I’m all ready.”
“Good,” Kate replied. “We need to get going. It’s going to be tight as it is to make my first turnaround.”
Sebastian turned to face him, holding his hand out with his phone in it. “I need your number.”
Mason grabbed the phone, typed in his number then called his phone so he’d have Seb’s number as well. He handed the phone back and leaned in for a quick kiss. “I’ll see you soon, okay?”
Seb nodded. Mason almost kissed him again, but Kate interrupted. “Sorry to break it up, but we really do have to go.”
“Bye.” Seb placed a quick kiss on his cheek and followed Kate down the corridor. Mason watched him the entire way until he stepped into the elevator.
He put his hand to his chest, not expecting the ache there. Seb had been gone barely two minutes, and already he missed him like it had been years.
If anyone had told him yesterday the one person he thought he couldn’t have would become the one person who made him whole, he never would have believed them. But Madame Eve seemed to know what she was doing because he’d never been happier.Who would’ve thought?
