REVERIUS
I couldn't move. Couldn't breathe beyond the walls of this fucking prison. But I could think. And think. And think. Of her face when the truth shattered whatever had bloomed between us. Of the darkness that crept into those mismatched eyes. Of the way she'd looked at me like I was nothing more than another lie.
Rage built within me, coating my throat until I could taste copper on my tongue. The barriers of my cage might hold for now, but they couldn't last forever. Nothing did. And when I broke free, when I finally escaped this godsforsaken hell, I would hunt her down. I would wrap my hands around that delicate throat and squeeze until the light left her eyes. Until her last breath carried my name to the endless void.
I smiled, remembering the weight of Paesha in my arms, the trust I’d cultivated, the love I’d let bloom. The memories would sustain me. Keep me warm in this frozen tomb until I could paint the walls with blood and finally end this game we’d played for far too long. “I’m coming for you,” I whispered, watching another grain of red sand fall. “And this time, I won't fail.”
