Aspen

Eight years ago yesterday was the day I married Wilder and today we’re leaving, moving out of the cabin we’ve called home since then. I have to admit I’m experiencing some bittersweet emotions.

Here in this small, cozy space is where we began our lives as a married couple. Here is where we celebrated wins, where we grieved losses, and where we discovered in wonder that we were expecting our now five-year-old son, Gavin, named after his grandfather.

We’re not moving far and we’re still on ranch land. We’re moving to a house that we’ve been building since the day we got married. Neither one of us wanted to go into debt to build a home since we both have strong feelings about how important it is to have a home that’s fully ours.

I never wanted to lose another home because of finances the way I did my family home and Wilder didn’t want that either. So we worked hard and we’ve made that happen. And fuck it all, I can’t seem to stop…I lean over another open box for a tissue to dab my eyes.

In the middle of me wiping away tears, the front door swings wide and Wilder strides in. Hot on his heels is our son.

“Mommy’s upset,” Gavin says rushing to hug me.

I wrap my arms around his warm little body. “I’m okay, honey. Just a little sad that we’re leaving the cabin.”

Gavin draws back and puts his hand on top of my head. “It’s okay, Mommy. Daddy will make you happy.”

“He will definitely make Mommy happy. Come here, you two.” Wilder wraps us both in his arms and hugs us tightly.

“It’s okay, honey,” Wilder says with his lips against my ears. “We’re taking all the memories with us, and we’ll make more.”

“This place is just so cozy,” I say with a sniff.

“And small,” Gavin says, trying to be helpful.

“Knock, knock!” My sister pokes her head through the open door.

“Aunt ‘Zona!” Gavin shrieks, leaving me to throw himself at her.

She scoops him up. “How’s my favorite nephew?”

Gavin puts a hand on his stomach, “I’m craving a cookie.”

She laughs, then says, “As your favorite aunt, I’ll have to see what I can do about that. Can I take him?” she asks, looking over at us. “I’ll meet you over at the new house.”

Once they’re gone, Wilder pulls me onto his lap and strokes the back of my head.

I swat his arm when I feel his cock growing harder under me. “You’re supposed to be comforting me.”

“I can make you comfortable. So comfortable.”

I stand and he leaps up. “Come here, honey. Let me ease your mind.”

I put my hands on my hips. “Seriously, Wilder?”

“Seriously.”

I make a big production of looking down at my watch. “I don’t know. I figure we’ve got about fifteen minutes before one of your brothers returns to get another load of boxes.” When I glance back at my husband, he’s out of his pants and underwear and holding his arms open wide.

“Oh my…” I double over laughing.

“Stop laughing woman. You’re wasting time. Jump on this.” He rolls his hips.

“You’re dancing around naked in front of the window.”

“Semi-naked. Full-on hard. If you got it, flaunt it.” He shimmies in front of the window.

“Is that your mom?” I ask in pseudo-alarm.

He drops hard to the floor below the window.

“Ow…I got a splinter and dammit, wife, now I need comforting…”

He’s crab walking toward me, and I can’t stand anymore because I’m nearly breathless.

Wilder puts his hand on my ankle and pulls me along the floor until the center of my shorts are against his cock. He nudges me there and that’s all it takes for my laughter to subside.

I’ll never get enough of this man. Of the way he makes my body sing with just a single touch.

He kisses me and I match his ardor, using my body to drive his toward the floor until he’s flat on his back. Then I take off my clothes and straddle him, slowly lowering my body to his until he’s inside of me and we’re one again.

“Fuck,” he groans out. “I love moving day.”

“But there’s all that unpacking to do…”

“I’ll help.” He reaches for my breasts. “Now shh…be comforted.”

I laugh again as I start to move my body in a rhythm he and I have perfected together. We start slow then our bodies work in a feverish tandem toward peaking and we find our pleasure at the same time.

I cry out and arch as he spills into me and when we’re done, I put my head down on his chest.

“If you need more…” he says.

I roll off him and snuggle against his side. “I want to save the next for our first night in our new home.”

He lets out a satisfied sigh. “Home. I love the sound of that word.”

“Me, too. You know what they say.”

“Yep. Home is where the cock is.”

“I don’t know what to do with you, Wilder.”

“Just love me, honey. That’s all I want from you. Well, that and throw me a little nookie every now and then. Let tonight be a now and then.”

“No matter what’s going on, you can always make me laugh.” I sit and grab my clothes. “Get dressed. I hear a truck.”

He scrambles up and dresses quickly and we walk out of the cabin to load another pickup truck with our belongings.

Our family and friends come and go for hours and finally the last load is brought over and unloaded and we’re alone.

We unpack only the essentials for tonight, then I put on an old record and Wilder and I slow dance in the living room while we kiss and set about making beautiful memories for years to come.
