Gray
I t was the day before Christmas as I busied myself in my brand new office that overlooked the massive yard where SE trained. I could see my men out there even as the soft snow began to fall. Everywhere within the Horde, lights lit up the streets in honor of the winter season. It was beautiful.
In the past few days, after portaling back home thanks to my brother, we’d been relaxing and trying to reconnect.
My injuries had healed and after a very long bath I was feeling far more myself.
Adyen was upset about my weight but he had me eating enough I was sure I’d put it back on.
Until then? I was wearing a few pairs of smaller leggings and oversized sweaters.
I was over leather for a bit.
When the men had told me of their success with the rest of the battle, I’d been proud.
I had also been happy to report that the all-female assassin group in the Dark Fae had recovered all the Dark Fae women that had been put in prison.
They were an anti-government group originally and named themselves the Obsidian Butterflies.
We had yet to talk about how their kingdom would go forward but I don’t think anyone was rushing anything but sleep and food right now.
I loved sleep.
Despite feeling better there really felt as though I was forgetting something. After Christmas, I had plans to start forwarding the Horde in technology and making sure all communities were represented. I had a lot to do and some of those things were my men.
Not like that… pervert.
Yeah. Okay. It was totally like that.
So, why did I feel so forgetful?
“Mom!” Luna sang.
I smiled because the boys had told me all about Luna and her boldness. I was thrilled she stood up for what she wanted but I had a feeling we were going to have to keep an eye on her.
“In here, honey.” I responded as Neo and Athens, as if knowing I was creeping on them, looked up at me.
Rhodes and Adyen were running drills while Taylor finished a weapons tutorial on something they’d found in the Dark Fae lands. Everyone looked happy.
“You have a letter,” she entered the room all cheerful smiles and wide eyes. Why did she look so happy? Ah, never mind.
Jude followed in after her and offered me a polite smile. Mark my words these two would be trouble. As in, my daughter would make him a trouble maker.
“Hello, Your Majesty,” He bowed and Luna rolled her eyes.
I took the letter and Luna spoke. “We are going to go sledding. Do you need me to stay until you read it?”
I opened it and shook my head as the two of them bolted out. My brow furrowed as the sigil cracked open and the parchment unfolded gracefully.
My mouth popped open as pure shock filtered through me.
“Baby girl?” Taylor frowned as he walked in all dusted with snow and cute.
I swallowed and put the letter down.
“What is wrong?” He demanded.
“The Light Fae will be here in four days for my wedding to their True Heir.”
“Fuck.”
Well said, Taylor. Well said.
