‘We did. I’m trying to do better. I’m learning to give a little more of myself to the media and it has brought me some space in my private life. Though, without you, I don’t need it.’

‘Why?’

‘Because without you, I’m not living, Katherine. I’m existing, and there is a very big difference in that.’

‘I’m not living without you either.’

Lukas pulled her against his body. His fingertips tangling in her fiery red hair. His palm cupping her cheek.Thisright here was home. With his heart pounding frantically because that was just the effect her touch had on him. His spirit calm because she was close.

‘Love is scary, I know that, and I know how difficult it would have been for you to admit you love me. But I promise you, we will be stronger for being together. I will support your career wherever you choose to go. Loving me will never mean you could lose your dream. Never.’

‘I know that, Lukas. You made me see that my career didn’t have to be my whole life. That with you I could have successandlove. What you did for me… I’m sorry I used my position at Aero to hurt you.’

He had wanted that apology for so long and, while he appreciated it, Lukas found that he didn’t really care anymore. There were more important things than being a driver or worrying about how the world saw him. He only cared what Katherine thought.

‘That’s behind us. And while I think you’re incredible onTrack Talk, I think you should get your column back too. You’re good. People need to hear fromyou.’

‘I love you, Lukas.’

‘I love you too, Katherine. Will you let me show you how much?’ After months of being without her and having her body so close to his now, Lukas was suffocating, in need of the air that was her lips on his. He was cold, desperate for the heat of her skin on his.

‘Yes.’

So he kissed her. He kissed her in apology and as a new beginning. He kissed her in a promise of love and show of devotion. He kissed her with his heart and soul. Her arms tightened around him and his tongue worshipped at her mouth. He never wanted to stop. He wanted this feeling every day until the end of time.

Katherine broke the kiss with a smile, but she didn’t pull away. He could feel the puffs of her staccato breath on his lips and he wanted more.

‘This doesn’t mean you get special treatment. I still have a job to do,’ she joked.

‘I wouldn’t dream of it, but if you could keep my personal life out of it, I would appreciate it. You see, my wife is going to be extremely well-known.’

Katherine laughed. ‘Your wife, huh?’

‘I’m hoping.’ He kissed her briefly again. ‘I’m never letting her go.’

‘I like the sound of that,’ Katherine replied.
