For answer he withdrew then bucked hard, so hard she’d never felt anything so perfect. He did it again and again, his slow precision driving her wild. Even as her rough cries of pleasure filled the air she needed to bring him undone.
She reached down to where his thighs slapped against her buttocks with every hungry thrust. Questing fingers found his sac and slowly squeezed.
There was a rough gasp as he arched high before taking her again, his movements jagged.
‘Don’t.’ He pulled her hand away, his gentleness at odds with the feral gleam in his eyes. ‘I can’t last like that.’
‘Then don’t.’ Her voice was unsteady. ‘I want you to lose yourself.’ Much as she’d rejoiced in her own climax, she wanted to be with Fotis when he reached that same point.
Their gazes held and she wondered what he saw in hers. Carefully he eased her legs down and she wrapped them around his hips. Now he lay over her, taking his weight on his elbows, his chest against hers, the friction of his hair-roughened chest against her nipples delicious torture.
Slowly he moved, retreating then surging. ‘All right?’
‘More than all right.’
She rose to meet the next thrust, matching his rhythm, drawn by instinct and the desire to give him the joy he’d given her. But somehow, the needs of her own body grew clamorous. She felt the wave rise, unstoppable. ‘I can’t—’
His mouth took hers, gently at first, then deeper, mimicking the sensual thrusts of their bodies.
Rosamund felt the ripples begin, then he came alive in an urgent explosion of movement, bucking frantically and pushing them both over the edge into ecstasy. The feel of him pulsing, losing himself deep inside her, was indescribably satisfying.
She swallowed his roar of completion, feeling her own blend of triumph, exquisite physical pleasure and, as she gradually came back to herself, tenderness for this man.
Her arms wrapped around him and her heart squeezed. He nuzzled the sensitive curve of her neck as he slumped over her, still trembling from his climax.
Even spent, his presence inside her took some getting used to.
Because he felt so good. Too good?
Rosamund felt such a profound connection. Her need for him to reach ecstasy had been more than a generous urge. It had been a necessity.
She’d wanted him to have everything he’d given her and more. Greedily, she’d wanted to be with him through it all.
She was discriminating about lovers and it was a very long time since she’d been with anyone. Yet, as she stroked the hot silky skin of his back, and felt a glow in her chest, she wondered if she’d just made a huge mistake.
Fotis lifted his head, heavy-lidded eyes meeting hers, then slid his arms around her and rolled onto his back so she was draped over him.
‘Better,’ he murmured, kissing her languidly.
Rosamund lost her train of thought.
CHAPTER TEN
FOTIS APPROACHED THEold windmill, a breeze riffling his shirt as he topped the ridgeline.
The door was propped open and Rosamund sat on the stone block that wedged it wide. She was writing, her attention on the notebook open on her lap. A broad-brimmed hat lay discarded on the ground. Even in the shade, her rose-gold hair seemed to catch the light.
Her legs were stretched out, casually crossed at the ankles. Fotis thought of how she’d locked those slim, strong limbs around him this morning as she urged him deeper, faster, harder.
He paused and drew a slow breath.
She wore a crimson cotton dress with narrow shoulder straps that left her arms and shoulders bare. He knew she wore nothing beneath it except a pair of skimpy, lace underpants. Lying on the rumpled bed, he’d watched her dress, only just restraining himself from reaching for her again, because she’d declared she needed fresh air after spending so long in bed.
He thought he’d done well, not mentioning that she’d been the one to disrupt his offer to prepare breakfast, her seeking, stroking hands revealing that it wasn’t food she’d been hungry for. Inevitably she’d woken the beast in him and they’d stayed in bed for another hour.
Their affair had lasted for weeks and still they were voracious for each other. Just a look, a touch, a half-smile, and nothing mattered but satisfying that hunger. By mutual consent, and while Ricardo was still at large, there’d been no mention of her leaving.
Fotis had found himself working less than he usually did, only when she was busy on her laptop. His business ran well and he trusted his senior staff but soon, surely, he’d have to pull back from her and return to his well-ordered life.
