Page 20 of Minotaur Bar (Minotaur Bar #1)

Havoc is out running errands as I serve the old bulls during the daytime shift. It’s actually so fun to hang out with them. We listen to classic rock and bullshit about their lives. I get to hear about how their kids are doing and how their day at work went. They ask me personal shit about Havoc, trying to gain anything they can to use as blackmail. I tell them to fuck off as they laugh hysterically. It’s a lot calmer during the day, making my shift easier and I get to hang out with the same bulls each and every time. Which is why I’m surprised when Cash comes into the bar.

We don’t get paid until the following week, so he’s not here for a check and his work week doesn’t start until tomorrow. Havoc hired Ginger to help out at the bar, making it possible for Cash to have two days off in a row. He should be enjoying his last day of freedom. Instead, he’s pulling out a stool away from the old bulls and sulking by himself at the opposite end of the bar.

I walk over to him, feeling hesitant. Cash and I are alright now, but we’re not exactly friends. Which is fine with me. I’ll take him not bumping into me on purpose and spilling beer down my tits to try and prove he’s a hardass. What I’ve realized with Cash is that he’s quite emotional and doesn’t know how to express it. But if I direct the conversation, he usually opens up to me. I remember the girls telling me that he was having problems with his girlfriend months ago. Maybe he’s here because of that.

“Hey, Cash. You looking for Havoc?”

I ask as I lean my hands on the bar.

“He should be back in an hour or two.”

“I’m not looking for anyone, Tess. Just need a drink,”

he says sadly, setting his phone down. Both his ears are plastered to his head, the white one even unmoving.

“It’s been a shit day.”

“I’m sorry to hear that. What can I get you?”

I watch as he rubs his temples, breathing deeply.

“A double shot and a beer,”

he grumbles.

“Please, Tess,”

he adds. I appreciate the manners. I smile at him and turn to get him his drinks. I slide them over to him and then make sure the old bulls are good before I come around the bar and take the seat next to Cash.

“Ok, honey. Spill. This isn’t normal Cash behavior,”

I say as he gives me a pathetic look.

“Why are you trying to help me?”

he asks, throwing his shot back easily, not even grimacing at the burn.

“Because even though you’re a dick, we’re a family here. You’re like my asshole brother. We may bicker and fight, but if someone hurts you, I’m first on the list to throw hands,”

I reply as Cash gives me a genuine smile.

“I like that analogy,”

he says, a small snort leaving his nose.

“I have been a dick to you. And it wasn’t even your fault.”

“No shit. I didn’t do anything,” I agree

“It’s not you, Tess. My life has been slowly falling apart, and you happened to start working here around the same time. You were an easy target for my anger. I’m sorry for that. It was never okay,”

he says quietly.

“I accept your apology and I’m grateful to have received one,”

I tell him honestly.

“What else is going on, honey?”

“My girl kicked me out. I have nowhere to go, so I’m holed up at the motel down the street. I think it’s really over. I don’t even wanna go back after the shit she said to me either. I’m just trying not to believe any of it. I know I did my best to make it work between us. I think she was talking to my friend behind my back too. Fuck, it’s a mess.”

He picks up his beer and downs half of it in one gulp.

“Oh, Cash. That’s fucking terrible,”

I say as I begin to rub his back.

“Want me to bring her here and challenge her in the ring?”

That gets him to laugh out loud.

“Good luck, Tess! You’re a fucking badass, but she’s a crazy minotaur. She may actually kill you,”

he says, shaking his head.

“Well, shit. I’m not that stupid. The only minotaur I challenge is Havoc and that’s because he likes to submit to me,”

I reply with a laugh.

“You should have seen what I got him to do the other day!!”

“Hey! Don’t you dare, red!!”

Havoc yells as he walks into the bar.

“You’re supposed to be running errands!”

I cry, totally caught, as he shakes his head.

“I’m done. Obviously just in time too,”

he says with a playful growl.

“What’s wrong with you?”

he asks Cash, looking the minotaur over.

“Be nice to him,”

I warn him as Havoc gives me a look.

“Shit. Must be bad if Tess is defending you. You okay?”

Havoc asks as Cash shakes his head.

“Not really, bossman. My girl and I are through and I’m living at the motel.”

Havoc whistles loudly, grabbing a bottle to refill Cash’s shot glass.

“Honestly, Cash? I know this is probably fucked up or whatever, but Suzie always made you miserable and out to be the bad guy. You did everything for her that you could to make her happy and she’d just come from a different angle to complain about why it wasn’t enough. I’m sorry you’re at the motel and if I had a bigger place, I’d say come live with us. But this is the best thing that could’ve happened to you. You’re finally fucking free! Fuck Suzie, man!”

I give Havoc a dark look as he finishes his rant.

“That’s the kind of thing that’s helpful to say in three months when he’s had more time to process his breakup!”

I chastise my minotaur.

“Not now when it’s all so fresh!!”

“Fuck, it hurts to hear, but Havoc is right, Tess. Suzie was always bringing me down. I used to be a lot happier, a lot more outgoing. I don’t even recognize myself anymore,”

Cash says with a heavy sigh.

“I hate that when I look in the mirror, I feel like a failure. I used to always tell myself what a great bull I was. I’d ask myself how I could change someone’s day for the better. Then I started becoming the reason others were having bad days.”

He looks at me, shaking his head.

“I don’t want to be that bull anymore.”

“Acknowledging that all is a good start,”

Havoc says kindl.

“You get to decide who you want to be.”

“I like that,”

Cash says thoughtfully.

“Today, though, bossman. I want to be drunk.”

“Fair enough,”

Havoc says with a nod, grabbing himself his own shot glass and filling it up.

“Cheers, man.”

The two minotaurs clink their small glasses together and throw back their drinks.

*****

I climb on top of Havoc when he wakes me up in the early morning. It’s quiet downstairs, the bar having been closed down. He sighs into my hair, his fingers creating a trail of goosebumps over my back as he runs them up and down my spine. He’s so warm and cozy, I almost fall back asleep in his arms.

“I love you, red. Seeing Cash so hurt today… It made me extra grateful for what we have,”

he says quietly. I prop myself up on his chest, looking into his handsome face.

“I love you too, cookie. We really do have something special,”

I agree.

“Think he’ll be alright?”

“I don’t know. I hope so. But he’s right. The Cash he is now isn’t the same bull I met five years ago. He’s got a long way to go to heal. He’s got us though. That’s something,”

he replies as I nod.

“Yeah. How is Ginger doing?”

I begin to rock my hips over Havoc’s, feeling his hard length below me and knowing it needs attention. He groans, his fingers straying to my hips, pushing me forward.

“She’s doing great. She’s picking everything up quickly. Didn’t need any extra help when closing down the bar tonight. I think she’s a great addition to the team,”

he says, panting a bit.

“That’s good, baby. I love Ging. I know she loves this place too.”

I can feel my pussy growing wetter as it slides over Havoc’s cock. I whimper, needing my big bull inside of me.

“You done with the small talk? Can I fuck you now, red?”

he asks gruffly. I nod my head quickly.

“Please, cookie,”

I beg.

“I love you, Havoc.”

“I love you too, Tess.”
