Chapter 13
MICAH
J osie and I had settled into a routine over the last week, and it was fucking bliss. Yeah, she screwed up my pregame nap ritual, but apparently having sex before each home game made me more than ready to go, so I wasn’t complaining.
“You’re coming tonight, right?” I asked.
She winked. “I definitely hope so.”
I tugged her against me. “Oh, you can count on that. But you need to come to the game because it turns out we lose when you’re not in the arena.” I leaned down and nuzzled her neck.
She gasped lightly. “You can’t blame that on me. I mean, yeah, the last three home games you’ve lost were when I was working at Tipsy, but I’m not taking responsibility for those losses.”
“Is it weird how sexy I find it that you know team stats right off the top of your head? Even if it’s how long our losing streak is?” I murmured against her skin. Her soft chuckle turned into a groan when I nipped her jaw and bathed the spot with my tongue before pulling back to meet her gaze. “I like seeing you in the stands cheering me on. It’s hot as fuck.”
“Believe me, watching you on the ice is such a turn-on. Even when you fight. So hot. I mean, don’t fight and get hurt, but yeah, yum,” she said, lifting one hand from my shoulder to fan herself.
I chuckled. “Glad you enjoy the show.”
“Should I ask Simone not to schedule me on home game days?” she asked.
“She’s definitely not going to approve because they’re extra busy then.”
“Because you guys are so awesome, and you’re going to win the Cup this year,” she exclaimed, her eyes twinkling.
“Yeah, that’s a bit of a stretch, but at least we should make the playoffs. Of course, if we play like we did the other night, it’ll be a short run,” I muttered. Vegas had kicked our asses four to one. It’d been rough, but hopefully, we would turn it around tonight and beat St. Louis.
“I honestly can’t decide which bedroom version I like best. I mean, I want you to win, of course, and your adrenaline after a win is…” She paused and did a little shimmy. I tightened my grip on her hip, my cock straining for her again.
“Josie,” I growled. “I have to go. Don’t make me hard.”
“But you’re rougher and super intense when you fuck me after a loss.”
She licked her lips, and I was fucking done. I lifted her into my arms and walked to the closest wall, pressing her against it.
“Fucking hell, Hurricane.”
And then my lips were on hers as I ground my cock against the heat between her thighs.
“I need you now,” I bit out, slipping my hand into her leggings and panties, my fingers finding her drenched with need for me, and I groaned against her lips. “So fucking wet for me every time. I need you squeezing my cock now. Feeling your muscles fluttering against me as you scream my name is fucking bliss.”
“Holy shit,” she rasped, arching her back, her head hitting the wall as I teased her clit. “You’re going to be late. Oh god, yes, Micah. Don’t stop.”
With her still in my arms, I carried her over to the kitchen table. I lowered her down and pulled a condom out of my pocket before I quickly stripped both of us from the waist down. I leaned over her body and swiped her clit with my tongue, loving how she tasted. She shuddered as I scraped my scruff against her sensitive thighs. I wanted to kneel down and feast, but that would have to wait until later when I had more time to edge her into oblivion.
Instead, I stood back up, rolled on a condom, and plunged into her waiting and ready body.
Inaudible sounds fell from both of our mouths as she met me, thrust for thrust.
I would never get enough of this woman.
“Fuck, you feel so fucking good, Hurricane.” I gripped her hips, and she reached up, wrapping her hand around my tie and pulling me toward her.
“Yes. Kiss me. Oh, yes.”
And then my lips were on hers as our bodies moved together, my tongue licking against hers. I swallowed down her moan, and my body tightened with the need to explode. Slanting my head, I deepened the kiss and continued to move in and out of her tight heat. She overwhelmed all my senses, and I loved every fucking second of it. Of her.
She broke the kiss, and I sucked on her throat, wondering if she’d kill me if I marked her in such a visible spot.
I had a need to mark her as mine. Fuck . I’d never felt this way before in my life. She had me all twisted up, and I couldn’t find it in me to care.
“I need you to come, Hurricane. Come all over my cock. Milk me dry,” I gritted out.
She met my gaze, her pupils blown, her lips parted as she sucked in air.
I should’ve stripped her bare. I wanted her breasts in my mouth. I needed to see and feel how her nipples pebbled for me, how her skin flushed with a need that matched my own.
Her thighs squeezed my hips as she chased the friction she needed to get off. I moved my thumb to her clit and applied the perfect amount of pressure, rubbing in small circles as she gripped my cock.
“Fuck, yes.” I groaned. “Come for me.” I needed her to explode first, so I leaned down and took her earlobe between my teeth and gently bit down, knowing how much she loved it.
Her hands reached up and sank into my hair, her nails scraping my scalp, and my entire body buzzed with desire. Even my toes fucking tingled.
I rocked my hips and pulled almost all the way out before slamming back into her as I played with her clit and murmured how glorious she was in her ear.
She lifted her hips up and then cried out my name as she strangled my cock and came.
“Fuck. Oh, fuck.” I pumped in and out of her, riding out her orgasm as I quickly followed her over the edge.
When I finally started to catch my breath, I reached up, cupping her jaw in my hand and meeting her gaze.
“I wish we could do this all night. You’re so fucking perfect. Just beyond. Fuck. I can’t get enough of you, Josie.” My voice was husky because of what we’d just done. I wanted to stay inside her. Carry her into my bedroom and never leave.
She ran her hand through my hair, a blissed-out smile on her face. “I can barely make words. Your mouth, hell, all of you.” She laughed softly. “See. Words.”
I chuckled. “You at a loss for words is astonishing.”
She pulled my hair.
“Ouch.”
“Don’t ruin our moment, Micahtron.” Then she wiggled her hips, and I swore my cock started to harden again.
Fucking hell. This woman.
“Damn. I hate that I have to go. I’m jumping in the shower quick, but you can’t join me, or else I’ll get fined for being a no-show.”
“We can’t have that,” she said, laughing softly.
I groaned as I slipped from her body.
“You just going to leave me here?” she asked, her legs spread out, moisture that I wanted to taste glistening on her thighs. I took off my condom and tied it off, then I leaned in and licked the length of her.
She was still gasping when I picked her up and carried her into the bathroom so she could clean up while I took the fastest shower possible. I really was pushing my luck on time, but I had zero regrets.
I ran out the door ten minutes later, only stopping to give her a quick, hard kiss before I was out of the condo.

“Well, don’t you have a pep in your step this afternoon,” Dom said, dropping into the seat next to me in our player’s lounge. “I swear, I saw your grin as soon as you walked into the room. Maybe a grin that says you got some from a certain purple-haired roomie.”
I glared at him. “Fuck off.”
“No denial. Good, good.”
“Fuck, you’re annoying,” I muttered. “And I didn’t walk in grinning. And if I did, it’s because I’m ready to go tonight and beat St. Louis in a few hours.”
“Man. You’ve got it bad.” He chuckled.
“Got what bad? It’s Josie, right? Asshole won’t give me any details, and I thought we were friends,” Tally said, taking the seat on the other side of me.
“Gee. Wonder why I like keeping shit to myself, with a bunch of gossips around?” I deadpanned.
“We’re family. We share our secrets.” Tally huffed.
“Oh yeah, because you were totally spilling details about Cora when you started hooking up,” I said.
Tally pointed at me. “Aha. So you are doing something.”
“What? No. I was talking about you right now,” I fired back. Shit.
“Sure you were,” Tally deadpanned. “And that was totally different. Her brother owns the team, so we had to keep it a secret,” he said.
“True. And I fessed up about knocking up Ally pretty early on,” Dom said, nodding.
“And we’re your best friends, so we’re just happy for you. I mean, your other best friend might not be since you’re banging his sister,” Dom continued. “You are banging her, right?”
I groaned. “Fine. Yes. It’s new, and I don’t know what’s going to happen, so don’t make a big deal about it.”
Dom grinned. “Fucking finally.”
“Just be happy. That’s all we care about.” Tally paused and made a face. “But about Ray.”
“Yeah, can we not bring him up? He still doesn’t know Josie’s staying with me.”
“Shit, dude. Why not?” Tally asked.
“Josie didn’t want to tell him at first, and we haven’t discussed it since,” I said. And frankly, I didn’t want to tell him until I knew where I stood with Josie. I wanted more than just a short-term hookup, but I had no clue when she planned to leave Denver.
“That could be dicey,” Dom said.
“No shit,” I muttered.
JOSIE
“They look so much better tonight than the other night against Vegas,” Cora said as we watched the game later that night. It was currently tied up at one each with four minutes left in the first period, so it was still early.
I was up in the WAG suite and already missed being close to the glass. I wanted to see the sweat on Micah’s face close up, not just on the jumbotron or the smaller TVs in the suite. Ugh, I was so freaking gone for him.
This afternoon had rocked me, and I swore I was still getting hot flashes from it. The mouth on that man was five-chili-pepper level.
Okay, maybe four. I’d read some seriously spicy books.
But I had never expected it from my Micahtron. I bit back a giggle and felt my cheeks flush at the memories of us having sex on the dining room table. The same table where I pictured him while I was drawing my NSFW artwork. I should thank him for the hands-on research.
Oh, his hands.
“Yeah, I hope they can pull off the win tonight. Vegas was brutal,” Ally said, pulling me out of my lusty haze.
“Yep. They look good,” I echoed, catching Harper’s grin out of the corner of my eye. We were sitting in the front two rows of the suite, and Harper was next to me. That was probably my first mistake.
“Yeah, real good,” she said. “So, Josie, how is it going with Micah?”
Shit stirrer.
“Ooh, yes. You breezed in here right before the game started, so we didn’t get to talk about him. He looked great during warm-ups. Whatever you’re doing, keep it up,” Cora said with a smile.
I hadn’t given them too many details when we’d watched the game against Seattle four nights ago. A game that they’d won, further cementing Micah’s belief that I needed to attend all home games since they’d then lost the game against Vegas.
“Yeah, she’s keeping it up,” Harper muttered, and I shot her a glare.
“Ooh, fill us in. Dom hasn’t said much about you two because Micah is secretive, but I have to ask if something happened, like two weeks ago. Dom was chuckling when he told me he had to go meet Micah on their day off for a workout on the roof.” Ally laughed softly. Livi was sleeping against her chest in some baby-wrap thing, a cute pair of pink baby headphones covering her ears.
I was amazed that she could sleep through all the noise and lights in the arena.
“What? Haha. That’s amazing,” Harper said.
“Uh, yeah. Teasing him was in full swing that day.” I shrugged. “It’s just so easy to do that I can’t ever resist.”
“Now you totally need to fess up,” Cora said.
“I honestly don’t know what’s going on other than that we’re having fun together, and I have zero complaints.” I could feel the heat in my cheeks.
Harper smirked. “I bet you don’t.”
At least she hadn’t shared with the group that Micah was a dirty talker. I was going to keep that to myself—well, aside from Harper knowing. Figured Micah wouldn’t want that spread around, even if it made him look like a stud.
“Well, as long as you’re both happy, that’s all that matters,” Cora said.
“Yes. Have all the fun. Seriously, hockey boy stamina is next level,” Ally said, pink staining her cheeks.
“No kidding,” Anna said, poking her head around Cora.
“We’re still keeping it quiet because of my brother. I mean, we actually haven’t talked about how and when to tell him. I’m probably making a bigger deal of it than I should, but I don’t want to rock anything right now, you know what I mean?”
“I totally get it. I will say that Christian was actually not that bad when I told him, but brothers can be so annoying,” Cora said.
“No kidding. Ethan did not react as well as Christian did.” Ally huffed. “He shoved Dom into the boards earlier this season. Idiot. He kept going after Dom during the game. I was so fucking pissed.”
“What?” I asked.
She waved her hand. “Stupid overreaction. My brother, Ethan, plays for the Strikers, Dom’s old team. We had this on-again, off-again thing when he was a Striker. Anyway, we hadn’t told anyone that Dom was the father, so of course, it came out on the ice during warm-ups. These guys are horrible gossips.”
“The worst,” Cora agreed.
“Oh my god. Was Dom okay?” I asked.
“He was fine. Ethan got a piece of my mind and eventually pulled his head out of his ass, and we’re all good now. So, I guess my advice would be to just tell your brother about you and Micah before he knocks you up.”
Everyone laughed.
“Um, yeah no. He’s definitely not knocking me up. I’m so not ready for that. But Ray doesn’t even know I’m staying with Micah. Family stuff. And I have no clue how long I’m staying in Denver, so I asked Micah to keep it a secret at first, and it just hasn’t come up since.” I sighed. “I feel bad that Micah is keeping something from his best friend, but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Ray was more protective of Micah than of me.”
And I hated how that statement made me feel when I said it out loud. Not that I could completely fault my brother for feeling that way.
“What?” Harper squawked. “How dare he pick his bestie over his sister?”
“No, no. It’s just… I’m used to it. My family thinks I’m a flight risk. My head up in the clouds or some nonsense, according to my mom. Just because I didn’t go to college and I like to enjoy life and not settle in one place or with what they consider a stable career. Ray has always been protective of Micah, and my family would all agree that Micah has always known exactly what he wanted. He’s the steady guy, and I’m the hurricane.” I couldn’t help but smile at Micah’s nickname for me. I’d always loved it.
“Pssh. Whatever. They sound judgy and boring,” Harper said. “Sorry.”
“Yeah. You’re doing your own thing, and they shouldn’t try to fit you into a box where you don’t belong,” Ally said indignantly.
“You’re living your life on your terms and not hurting anyone, and that’s all that matters. I know I grew up with a stupid amount of money, so my career path had a lot more leniency, but I’ve gotten comments about choosing to be an author when I could have a more ‘important’ and ‘normal’ job.” Cora rolled her eyes as she did the air quotes. “And then, on the flip side, people ask why I even have a job at all. For god’s sake, I would be so bored just sitting around doing nothing. Ignore the haters.” She reached over to squeeze my hand.
My heart warmed at how they all stood up for me, and once again, I was grateful for my stupid ex. His driving away allowed me to barge in on Micah’s life and meet these amazing women.
“Thanks, guys. And honestly, Micah and I haven’t even brought up telling Ray about being roommates, let alone all the other stuff.”
“Cheers to the other stuff,” Harper said, clinking her glass against mine.
“Absolutely.” Ally grinned while Cora and Anna held up their own glasses and laughed.
“But really, tell him when you’re both ready, and just live your life and be happy. Life’s too short for all the bullshit,” Cora added.
I gave her a soft smile. I knew some of her history—the heiress who lost her younger brother and parents in a plane crash when she was a teen and was left to be raised by her older brother, Christian. I couldn’t imagine all that she’d gone through.
“But maybe talk to Micah about where you both are. Communication is key, and he’s totally smitten,” Ally said.
Harper took a sip of her beer and then nodded. “Yeah, totally smitten.” Then she winked at me again.
I rolled my eyes at her, and she grinned before popping a bite of mozzarella stick into her mouth.
“He thinks I’m a good luck charm,” I said.
Anna laughed. “These guys and their superstitions.”
“Apparently, they’ve been winning home games when I’m here and losing when I’m not.”
Cora tilted her head to the side like she was going over the past games.
“Well, shit. He’s not wrong. They do win when you’re here. We’ll talk to Simone,” Cora said.
I chuckled. “No, you won’t. I’m not taking any responsibility for their game results.”
“If they win tonight, you might have to,” Ally said. “And it’s not just the guys. I’ve been in a hockey family my entire life. You don’t mess with results like that.”
“Same. You’ll jinx them,” Harper explained. I knew she came from a hockey family, too.
“Oh my god, you guys are all terrible. That’s a lot of pressure, you know,” I said.
“See? You’re not only good for Micah, but you’re good for the entire team. So you have to stay in Denver,” Cora said, then paused. “Um, okay, I didn’t mean it like that.”
Harper burst out laughing.
“Cora, you’re reading too many spicy books. I didn’t even think that way,” Anna said, shaking her head at her friend.
“I can’t help my dirty mind. Nate’s only made it worse because he demands we research possible spicy scenes for authenticity.” Her cheeks were bright red right now.
Harper smirked. “Damn right. Research is important. Timmy and I do lots of it, and I’m not even writing a book.”
“Same,” Ally and Anna both said.
Then the goal horn went off, and we all glanced down as the Stampede players on the ice hugged each other. The jumbotron showed the replay of Santa getting a goal and Micah hugging him, a huge smile on his face.
“Woohoo, Nick,” Anna called out, beaming as Santa looked up toward our suite and tapped the top of his helmet.
“Yup. You can’t ever leave Denver. I mean, at least during the season. And you and Micah are going to live happily ever after,” Harper said, nudging her shoulder into mine.
Was I crazy to want that?
