Page 114 of Make Me Yours
With a chuckle, she gently elbows me away. “I have things to do before the girls get here. You, however, need to get ready to go.”
I groan dramatically. “Are you kicking me out of my own penthouse?”
“Yup. You and the guys can go bond over beer and bad decisions.”
She’s right, I should probably get moving, but something about Lilah in my kitchen, at home in my space, makes it almost impossible to walk away.
I fucking love it.
Before I can fire back a response, my cell chimes with a notification that guests are on the way up.
Looks like girls’ night has officially begun.
I head to the elevator to greet Callie and Rina. Waffles trails behind me, batting a ball back and forth as I find the two women loaded down with wine and takeout bags.
Callie gives a small smile as she adjusts the strap of her purse. “Hi, Steele.”
She’s always been a little tentative. Reserved. Especially since her split from Zane.
Rina on the other hand? There’s not a shy bone in her body. It’s probably because wrangling players as the team’s head of PR requires a certain level of confidence.
She lifts a dark brow in greeting. “Thanks for letting us use your place tonight,” she says, brushing past me into the entryway. “We’ll try not to get too wild.”
“Not making any promises, though?” I ask dryly.
“Obviously not.”
Lilah peeks down the hall with a smile. “Looks like you brought enough for a girls’ night and a half.”
Callie lifts her bags. “I came prepared.”
Rina waves a hand. “This week has been hell. I plan on drinking enough to forget I even have a job.”
I glance at Callie. “I hope you’re driving.”
She nods. “Designated mom. Always.”
Just as we reach the kitchen, boisterous male voices fill the entryway, and I glance toward the elevator as Knox, River, Oliver, and Jax stroll in.
Knox grins. “Hey, Cap.”
My brows furrow. “What are you doing here? I thought the plan was to meet at The Rail Yard.”
Knox shrugs, completely unrepentant. “Yeah, but then we heard Lilah was hosting girls’ night, and figured we’d crash first.”
Oliver smirks, already heading for the wine Rina brought. “Besides, what’s a party without me?”
Rina snatches the bottle from his hands. “If you touch my wine, you’ll find my size eight lodged up your ass.”
“Probably wouldn’t be the first thing he’s enjoyed up his ass,” Jax says with a snort.
Oliver gives him a finger before turning back to Rina, blue eyes dancing with mischief. “Didn’t know you were so possessive.”
She glares. “Alcohol is what helps me forget about all my interactions with you.”
“As if that’s possible. I’m the highlight of your week, baby. And we both know it.”
“Please, keep telling yourself that,” she grumbles.
