She holds them up for Bianca to see.
“Any allergies?”
“No.” Bianca says
Victoria glances at me, like she’s waiting for me to leave, but I’m not leaving and she should have figured that out already. I take a seat on the chair on the other side of the room and get comfortable.
“Lie back, knees up, and I’ll need you to drop your legs to the sides.”
She does as she’s told, but stares at me, and I spot the trembling in her bottom lip.
‘Raven’ she mouths, and I get up immediately and go over to her. I take a spot on the side of the bed beside her head.
“I’m right here.”
Taking her hand in mine, I hold it tight.
“Nothing bad is going to happen. I won’t allow it.”
She stares at me while the doctor does what she needs to, and the heaviness of her stare makes my chest tighten. I know she doesn’t love me, but the way she’s looking at me right now, like I’m her fucking lifeline, is powerful. On some level she needs me, even if she doesn’t realize it yet. I was the man that terrified her before, but this time she was scared, and I was the one to reassure her.
“All done,” Victoria says, and Bianca closes her legs and sits up quickly. I pull the t-shirt down to cover her.
“I would suggest waiting seven days before having intercourse without a condom. Raven can call me if you have any problems.”
“Thank you,” Bianca says, and I escort Victoria to the door.
“So is she coming to your house then?”
I glance at Bianca with a questioning expression.
“Who?”
“Lucky. You have her car, so I assumed she’d want it back.”
I turn onto I-90 and answer her.
“One of her security team will come get it in a few days. They won’t make their presence known, they’ll just get the car and leave. It won’t be anything for you to worry about.”
I take her hand in mine, pulling it up to my lips, and kiss her knuckles gently.
“I’m crazy about you, crazy girl.”
She turns her gaze to me with a smile gracing her lips.
“Or you’re just crazy.”
I laugh before biting her hand.
“I don’t think there’s any arguing with that assessment.”
Bianca stares out the window, and I can tell she’s got something running through her mind.
“What is it?”
“How often do you do it?”
I pass the slow-moving grandma in front of me, before confirming what her question was.
