“Yes!”
A wild roar of cheers rings out as Lincoln slides the ring onto my finger then lifts me from the ground. I don’t even need the ceremony. This was enough. The most perfect moment of my life.

Years of happiness later…
“Okay, sweetheart.” I turn to our eldest daughter. “We’re heading out now. Your Auntie Izzy and your Uncle Rogue are in charge, but if you need anything, you call us, okay?”
“We’ll be fine, Dad. You and Mom go have fun. I’ve got this under control.”
I know she does. Our eldest is the most responsible fifteen-year-old I’ve ever met. But I think that’s because she had a lot of practice while she was living in the group home. From what Melinda told us, Janey was always the one offering comfort to the other girls whenever they were sad. She always did everything she could to cheer them up and was a good friend to everyone. Just like her mother back in the day.
In fact, Janey’s so much like Shayna, you’d never know they weren’t blood related. They almost look alike too. And whenpeople meet them, most assume Shayna birthed our daughter herself. My little princess and my queen are two peas in a pod, and bonded so tight you’d have thought Shayna was part of her life from the beginning, not just the last four years.
One thing I’ve learned from our four kids is that bloodline has nothing to do with making a close-knit family. It’s strength, trust, and stability. And lots and lots of love. We strive to make them feel safe and protected and I know they do. It’s obvious by the joy that’s constantly lighting their faces and by the giggles that fill our house on the daily.
“I know you’ve got this, kiddo.” I give her a hug. “All right, I’m going to go grab your mom and then we’re heading out. And one last thing, don’t let Auntie Izz know where the Halloween candy stash is.”
Brady will be up with another stomachache in the middle of the night, and I don’t want to be interrupted on our one night away. I finally get a full twenty-four hours alone with my wife, and I’m going to spend every minute of that worshipping her body.
“I won’t, Dad. And I’ll make sure everyone brushes their teeth before bed and says their prayers.”
God, she’s a good kid. Not sure how we got so lucky, but we have certainly been blessed. Not just by the man upstairs, but also by Melinda Williams. That kind, old woman put in a good word for us and made sure that any of the kids who were struggling and needed extra time and attention would get placed with us. She knows the kind of loving home we can provide and now we have four amazing kids…and counting.
“All right, kiddo. One last hug for your pops.”
I give her a squeeze and then do the rounds with the other three who are currently getting attacked by the hugging monster that is their mother. Shayna’s rarely away from them, so she’s already homesick for her children. As soon as I get her alone, Ihave a plan to keep her occupied, but I need to get her out the door first.
“All right.” I swoop in and sweep my wife up. “It’s time for us to go.”
She giggles at me and waves to the kids as I start to carry her out the door.
“Love you guys so much. I’ll call you to say goodnight. Be good for Aunt Izzy and Uncle Rogue.”
My beautiful wife shouts her last goodbyes and reminds them to feed the cats as I place her down on my bike then strap on her helmet for her. “You ready, my darling?”
“I’m so ready. It’s been a long time, Officer Price.”
The moment she purrs the words, my dick hardens, making a mess of my pants. I know exactly what kind of trouble we’re gonna get up to tonight and I can barely wait. I saddle up and rev the engine.
Life couldn’t get any better than this.
