A low moan escapes my lips, causing him to slow. “Mi fai impazzire. You okay?”
I look over my shoulder at him. “Sí,”I hiss. “Don’t stop.”
“Luciana.”
Our eyes meet.
“I can’t offer you anything but hurt.”
I scowl. My husband and his dour warnings. “Do your worst then, and we’ll see if I break.”
“I’m sorry.” He readjusts my hips then shoves deep. Cursing. Snarling. Groaning.
I hide my smile as I hold on for dear life.
Until we both break into pieces to join as one.

Iwish I could say everything settled into place after that. That our relationship picked up where we left off. That Hayden whispered words of love while fucking me senseless every night.
But he hasn’t said those words.
And although we share a bed and he’s a demanding lover, it feels like he’s emotionally distancing himself. I often catch him watching me somberly, like he’s waiting for me to leave him.
It’s frustrating.
He’s been busy, too. Settling business with the Colombians. Directing whatever business that is happening in Rome over the phone.
So, I’m pleasantly surprised when, two weeks later, he takes me on a day trip to the beach. He’s had a picnic packed. Except once he finished spreading the blanket out across the hot sand, it was clear I was on the menu.
“Dios,” I moan, climaxing on his tongue.
I’m flipped over onto my knees, then fucked from behind.
“Luciana. God, Luciana,” he chants, pinning me down into the sand as he deepens his thrusts.
My clit rubs against the blanket. “Hayden. I’m coming.”
He kisses my ear, my cheek, my temple, before groaning and releasing into me.
I lay there, panting, and it takes a few minutes to recover. When I roll to my side, I find him sitting with knees bent, deep in thought.
I study him—Dios, when am I not checking him out? His dark hair messy, his shirt wrinkled. He looks younger ... and lost.
“Hayden.”
He turns to look at me, his eyes softening.
I smile at him.
His lips curl as he runs a finger across my cheek then lifts it to show me the sand.
“You’re an impatient lover. The blanket was barely laid out. I’m not going anywhere. You don’t have to make love to me like it’s the last time.”
“You are so goddamn beautiful. Inside and out.”
I cock my head at him. “I’m not weak.”
