I give them space. Not long afterward the team approaches. They’re smiling and relaxed. Marshall steps into the lighted area of the sidewalk. “Nice work.” He grabs me and slaps my back.

I can feel the adrenaline in him when we exchange a quick man hug. Roark shakes my hand. Simona shoves her hands in her back pockets and watches us all.

The boss nods toward the open door of the SUV where Bryan is standing. “Is she okay?”

“Banged up. Sounds like she’s got some broken ribs. I hope you kicked the hell out of those bastards after I left.”

Marshall smirks. “They’ll be feeling it for a while.”

I tilt my head toward the warehouse. “Where’s the undercover guy?”

“The police and feds are going over the scene now. He was talking to an ATF agent. They need statements from everyone. I told them we’d be close by.”

Roark clears his throat and lifts his chin. “Your girl is coming.”

What the hell?

Sierra is slowly walking toward us. I rush to her side and grip her arm to steady her.

She’s smiling. Her eyes are misty. “I need to thank all of you. I’m afraid I caused a lot of trouble. It’s just that Bryan is—was—all I had.”

Her eyes lift to me as her gaze softens. “Until I found this guy.”

Warmth spreads from my heart, shooting out into my body. I sway and clutch my chest.

Simona grins when she sees my expression. “We’re just glad you are okay, Sierra”

The team makes agreeing sounds. Marshall is pleased. Pride shines in his eyes. “You did good, everyone. Things turned out fine. Some bad seeds are going to prison over it. As soon as everyone gives a statement, you two should get out of here.”

I’m trying. If everyone would quit talking.

“That’s my plan. We’ve got some lost time to make up for.”

Chapter Forty-Three

SIERRA

God. That feels good. Clouds of steam whirl around me as the hot water soaks into my bones. I moan as I sluice the water up and over my hair. “Best shower ever.”

The white shower curtain jangles on the rod. Cole’s standing outside the tub. The only thing he’s wearing is a protective gleam in his eyes.

Besides that, he’s all beautifully chiseled, naked hotness.

His eyes skim over me as a small grin tilts his sexy lips. “I’d second that.”

With grace and power, he steps in behind me, wrapping me up in his delicious strength.

I sag back into him. “Ah. Now, that feels really good. I knew I was missing something.”

“I couldn’t stay away.”

“Glad to hear I have that affect on you.”

With gentle hands, he soaps me up and shampoos my hair with minty smelling hotel products. I love every secondof it. Arching and purring, I stretch like a kitten under his touch.

After he’s rinsed me, his lips trace my neck as he plants kisses there. The water streams over both of us.
