“Do you want me to tell them?” Billy asked.

“We’ll have a secret meeting in the crow’s nest. It’s late, so we’ll do it tomorrow.”

Billy smiled and nodded. “I’ll tell the others.”

“You do that, lad. Dismissed.” The captain shooed him toward the double doors.

Billy ran outside. In no time at all, his crew would know everything that had transpired between Conrad and Cassie.

Captain Stanley went behind the bar with a huge smile. It wasn’t every day he got to play matchmaker, and his plan was coming along perfectly. The only fly in the ointment was Agnes and her confounded way of sticking her nose in other people’s business. But he’d deal with her when the time came. Right now, if his guess was right, within the next few days, Irving would be proposing to Sarah Crawford.

If he kept at this rate, he’d be some competition for that matchmaker in Denver everyone in Bozeman talked about. What was her name again? Pettifogger or something. No matter, he’d save Apple Blossom if it was the last thing he ever did. And if marrying off the Englishmen would see the job done, then by golly, they’d all be in love by the next full moon.

Captain Stanley went behind his ship’s wheel and hummed a happy tune. He could almost feel the spray of the sea on his whiskered face. Now if he could just find that dratted sea beast!
