“You do realize that isn’t making your case for not being in charge any less true.

” Washing his hands over his face, he looked at his long-time friend.

“You’ve this incredible power, I can almost see it on you, and you’ve been out for four days just adjusting to it.

Or it could have been the sex. I wasn’t here, so I have no idea.

Anyway, you have faeries in your house—and not a few either, but I’d say a couple of pips. ”

“Remind me what a pip is?” He told him. “You think that I have two large groups of faeries in my house right now? That’s not possible. I mean, the house is big enough, but why would there be that many faeries in my household?”

“Why are you using so many words this early in the morning?” They both turned to look at Skye.

She had covered her head with the sheet, and he had to laugh.

“Who are you talking to, and why are they in our bedroom? Tucker? Is that you? Why are you bothering us after we’ve had the most incredible sex in my life? ”

“It’s been four days, and I’ve been watching over you. Along with the others. Today was my turn.” She sat up quickly and stared at Tucker. “Your mate and I were just discussing how much magic you guys got when you woke up.”

“What do you mean by four days? There’s no way that we’ve been out for…

I mean, I feel kinda good about the rest, so perhaps.

But you never mentioned being out for so long when you mentioned magic to me.

” Kings told her that they had a theory.

“What sort of theory? Right now, my body is humming. Like it has too much energy in it and I’m going to explode. ”

“I feel it too. Like something has put us on a charger and we’ve hit the max.” They both looked at Tucker when he laughed. “You’re not the least bit funny, and whoever told you that you were was lying to you.”

“I was just thinking again how much you’re proving my point to be true.” When Tucker stood up, so did he. “Give me a hug, big guy, and I’ll be on my way. You have enough to contend with without me being here laughing at you all the time.”

After he left them, Skye said she was going to take a shower.

Before he could stop her or even to ask if she thought that was a good idea, the way they were feeling, she was gone to the bathroom.

He stayed on the side of the bed, trying to figure out what he’d been told.

But all he kept coming back to was that the faeries had wanted to talk to him when he’d first shifted into a dragon.

Why would his mother forbid them? What had they wanted from him?

He would have given it to them gladly; he knew that without the faeries, he’d be nothing.

Getting up when there was a scratching sound at the door.

He opened it to find several of the small creatures flying at his head level.

“Lord Savage? We’ve come to bring you something to eat.

” Moving out of the way of the horde that came into the room, he could smell the food even before they put it on a table that hadn’t been there before.

“Your cook will be adequate for the kitchen so long as we’re there to make sure that the food is up to your standards. ”

“Standards? I don’t understand what’s going on.

We usually have our breakfast in the kitchen with the cook.

” The one who had been doing the talking seemed to be put out.

But he forged on. “Why are you guys even in my house? I don’t remember anyone telling me who allowed you to take over in the first place. ”

“No one told us, your lordship.” He corrected the faerie by telling him that he was just Kingston or Kings if he preferred.

“Your lordship, we’re here because you took a mate.

We should have been with you all along, but your mother forbade us from having anything to do with you.

Now that she’s been imprisoned and no longer around to tell us what to do, we’ve come to make your life easier while at home and working. ”

“My life here at home was never in question. And what do you mean, no one is telling you what to do? This is my home, and I’ll make the rules regarding you and the others.” Skye came out of the bathroom and looked spitting mad. “Now look what you’ve done. You’ve upset my mate. And for what reason?”

“You are our king. She is our queen.” He almost told the little creature that it wasn’t possible, but something else occurred to him, and it was that they’d been called king and queen, not the lordship in charge of a small group of dragons like Tucker thought.

“It’s our duty to make sure that you are happy and well taken care of.

We can do no less than that because of who you are. ”

“What makes you think that we even want to be king or queen?” That was an excellent question, and he was glad that Skye had asked it.

“We have a good life as it is now without all this bothersome of faeries around all the time. Did you know that we can make our own way to the breakfast table without eating in our room? Also, this is our private place. You’ll not be allowed to enter here unless one of us gives you permission to do so.

If we keep you around at all. You’re messing up our schedule. ”

Kings put his arms over his chest in a show that he agreed with everything that Skye had said.

When the pip of them left the room, in a hurry, it seemed to him.

He was faced with the one who had been seemingly in charge.

His name wasn’t as important right now since they were establishing who was in charge, and it wasn’t going to be the tiny man with wings.

Ignoring the breakfast that had been brought up for them, he and Skye decided to go to the kitchen, where they had their first meal of the day every day.

As soon as they were in the warm room, they could see the chaos of having a bunch of people in charge and no one doing a thing.

It was Skye who took them to task and told them to go to another room so that they might enjoy their breakfast. Kings thought it was funny but wisely kept his laughter to a minimum.

Trevor joined them a few minutes after the pip left them to their meal.

He didn’t seem to notice anything going on, and they didn’t tell him.

But he had to have noticed the great amount of faeries that had been just in the other room when he came through, but he didn’t say a word.

He only asked for more pancakes when he finished what he had on his plate.

The kid was going with the flow better than they were.
