“That’s fucking hot.”
I laughed and kissed him, pushing my tongue inside his mouth. Who needed to kill when you could have sex like this?
After we shared a shower, I walked downstairs with Luke in tow. KC was already awake and in the living room, an empty bowl beside him. His fingers moved around his Xbox controller buttons, guiding his Viking character across snowy scenery on the TV. I glared at him when I walked beside the U-shaped couch and crossed my arms.
“KC, what is this?” I waved my hand at the bowl, and he gave me a quick apologetic smile before his focus returned to the screen.
“Sorry, Pa, but you weren’t up yet and I had to get my own breakfast.” He gave me another look, this time one that said he blamed me for not having food ready for him when he woke up. “It was going to be put it in the sink after I finished playing this.”
Luke strode straight past me and fell onto the couch next to him. “What’re you playing? I haven’t played an Xbox in years.”
“Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.” KC sent him a grin. “It’s pretty awesome. You can even get it on with people and do relationships and shit. It’s part of the plotline. You can sleep with your adoptive-brother’s wife.”
Luke leaned back on the couch and laid his arm along the top. “Seriously?”
“Yeah, but I’m in a relationship with this baker guy. There’s some serious size difference, man. Tarben, that’s the baker, is this ex-fighting giant of a guy. He’s pretty hot, for a video game character—”
I shook my head and grabbed the empty bowl, taking it to the kitchen. Listening to Luke and KC from where I stood at the sink, my belly warmed. Luke had slipped so easily into my life, in a way I hadn’t expected, and KC liked him a lot. That’s all I ever wanted in a man. Someone whose company we both enjoyed. I’d just never expected it to be Luke Booth.
Laughter from the living room made me smile.
