CHAPTER 15
KAILIREX
As long as our home was comfortable and none of the decor too jarringly brash, I didn’t care how my mate and her brother chose to furnish our home. As for young, yes, I wanted them, and it made me grow hard just thinking about her belly becoming swollen with our young, her breasts becoming pendulous with milk to nourish him or her. However, practicality said we should grow our relationship more first, and establish a rhythm as a pair so that as we reared our young, we were in step. And there was also the matter of Playtime Fleet. We were still dealing with political obstacles we had to kick out of our path and were heavily into the final pre-production stage. Then there was the launch of the toy lines and the premieres to be handled, all things which needed their arrangements finalized before we even finished wrapping the first season.
I had a fairly good idea that she didn’t want to become pregnant right away, either. I’d seen her application to join the Playtime Fleet staff, which signaled a desire to advance her career. Which she could do while pregnant, though I felt that once motherhood was upon her, she’d want time off to simply enjoy it. It was something we needed to discuss in private, preferably after we’d claimed each other several times and could think without mating pheromones driving our biological imperative to fuck.
It sounded like we’d have children running about our home sooner rather than later as it was, judging by the looks Piloris and Eric were giving each other as they discussed adopting. That was wonderful, but I was glad that the primary responsibility would be on their shoulders and not mine or Stella’s.
The ship gave a soft bump as it parked itself on a cushion of air and Tillin opened the hatch from his console.
“Okay, grab your stuff and go have fun!” he said, winking. “And don’t forget to eat. You’ll need those calories!”
Stella laughed at his antics, her hands already unbuckling her straps. I undid my own and took down the food from the overhead locker as she finished shrugging herself out of the tangle she’d made.
“Ugh! Why do they have to be so complicated?” she grumbled. I handed her the bag with a soft smile. “You’ll get used to it. I’ll get your suitcase.”
“It’s the green one,” she said. “You had Eric’s last time.”
Piloris was already taking both cases out and he wordlessly handed me the bright green hardshell case, keeping the bright yellow one for himself.
“Guess we’ll see you soon,” he said. “We’ll probably replicate our dinner since Eric is on New York time.”
“We’ll eat our hot dogs,” I replied. “I’ll place the rest in the chiller and we can reheat it tomorrow.”
He grinned. “Sounds good. See you soon.”
“Wait, where are they going?” Stella asked as she watched Piloris guide Eric out.
“Until they finish our quarters, we will be staying in our bachelor rooms. They’ve given us a bed large enough for two. Don’t worry, it’s only for a few days and we’ll be getting together for meals. Besides,” I said with a meaningful leer, “You don’t want them that close by while I'm claiming you or he him, do you?”
Her eyes widened and she shook her head vehemently. “Ew! No! Staying in your quarters instead of a shared hotel room is much better for super sexy times.”
I was glad she was in agreement with me as exhibitionism wasn’t one of my kinks. I led her down the ramp and we waved goodbye to Piloris and Eric as they waited to get on the elevator. Our elevator was further down the corridor in the opposite direction. Stella looked around, her brow furrowing. “I didn’t think about the fact that I’d have to learn to read Mylos to get around,” she said.
“You can simply ask Xeranos to show you the way,” I replied. “And we had considered adding human numbering systems, but the Council decided against it in case of sabotage.”
She grimaced. “Yeah. That’s already happened once already, with that TV talk show host.”
“Yes. The repercussions of her ratings grab stunts are still affecting us today.”
“That was so sad. She hurt a lot of people. Some even died!” she said mournfully.
I squeezed her hand gently. “That’s in the past. Hopefully, Playtime Fleet will help move us all towards a more understanding and enlightened future.” I stopped in front of the elevator, her coming to a standstill alongside me. I palmed the access panel and it lit up. When the doors opened and we stepped inside, it felt momentous, the two of us on our own, beginning our future, and that of Playtime Fleet. I knew then that I definitely wanted her on the production team, even if only as an intern. I was certain that once my team and I reviewed her vid samples and she gave us her live presentation, everyone else would see she was a good fit too. It was simply a matter of where.
“Xeranos, please take me to my quarters.”
“Whoa! Is this moving sideways?” she asked, feeling the direction of acceleration.
“Yes, these move both vertically as well as horizontally.”
“That’s handy.”
“It is,” I agreed.
“You told him to take us to your quarters. Do you have elevator doors that open into them, then?”
I chuckled. “No. he knows to simply take me to that deck and stop at the nearest door to them.”
“Ah. Well, that makes a lot more sense than everyone having private elevator doors,” she laughed.
I smiled down at her, the sound of her laughter filling me with a deep sense of happiness that could only be caused by her presence. She was fast becoming as necessary to my being as the very air I breathed. I ducked down to brush a kiss onto her cheek.
“Yes, it does,” I agreed. Imagine the number of transport cubicles that would require.”
We both laughed at the silliness of that, and she leaned into me, resting her head against my bicep. Then her stomach growled loudly and she startled away in embarrassment, her face turning red all the way to the roots of her hair and down her neck.
“I think the first thing we need to do is eat,” she said, glancing away.
“Indeed. We’re going to need those calories.”
She laughed then, swatting at my arm.
“Tillin was a hoot. We should invite him over for dinner one evening after we get settled in.”
“After the wedding,” I suggested.
Her eyes grew round. “Shit! Eric and I need to call Mom and Dad to tell them the news! If the super tells them they saw our apartment getting packed up, they’ll freak out.”
“There’s time to do that tomorrow before the team goes down,” I reassured her as the elevator paused, and then began a vertical ascent.
“Yeah, okay. Just don’t let us forget. We absolutely need to tell them before someone else does. Eric got the apartment because our uncle knows the super.”
I nodded. “So it’s imperative you notify them first. Understood.”
Her shoulders sagged. “We should probably come up with a basic idea of how we want our wedding to go, too. Otherwise, Mom and Aunt Caroline will just run amok and it’ll be stupidly over the top.”
I closed my eyes briefly, centering myself. “The simpler, the better,” I agreed. “We’ll be on a time constraint as well unless you’re willing to wait for the break in filming between seasons one and two of Playtime Fleet.”
“Oh, that won’t fly with my parents and the aunts and uncles,” she warned. “How much time are we talking to plan?”
I licked my lips. “This week or next? Xeranos can show several packages that have current openings according to party size, in a multitude of venues.”
“There’s still the matter of dresses,” she reminded me.
“Easily handled. Pick your colors and styles and our replicators will handle the rest, all perfectly sized within twenty-four hours.”
“I don’t know if everyone can get time off on such short notice,” she said chewing her lower lip. Then she brightened. “That will help keep the list more manageable, though, won't it? Everyone else can watch the video!”
The elevator came to a stop and the doors slid open.
“How far is it?” she asked, peering out.
I pointed to a door less than twenty feet away.
“Oh, thank God,” she said, sounding suddenly breathless. “Because you smell so damned good and the space in here was so small, I’ve been super horny this whole time.”
I had been the same, in part from scenting her arousal, and had desperately been trying to ignore my now painfully engorged cock. I tugged her out the door, pulling her along as fast as her much shorter legs could carry her. If my quarters had been any further, I’d have probably wicked her up and carried her over one shoulder.
She laughed as we trotted down the hallway and tumbled inside once I palmed the door open.
“Last one to get nekkid has to go down on the other one!” she sang.
I didn’t see how that was a losing proposition either way.
