Zoe
F orest’s mouth was hot and insistent on mine, his body pressed hard against me in the narrow space. Every sensible bone in my body screamed stop , but the way his hands slid over my hips made stopping impossible.
“This is just lust,” I whispered again, breathless, as my dress was pulled up and my panties disappeared.
Forest slid inside me with one push, and his mouth covered mine as I screamed out with pleasure as he started moving.
I was still trying to convince myself as much as him that this was lust. I was sure this wouldn’t be the first time this happened while I was here.
His lips curved against my skin. “Then why do you taste like forever?”
My reply was cut short by the sharp rattle of the doorknob.
“Forest? You in here?”
Jason’s voice.
I froze. So did Forest, though his hand didn’t leave my waist.
The knob twisted again. “Seriously, man, Lane’s looking for you.”
Panic surged. I shoved at Forest’s chest, whispering, “Do not open that door.”
Forest grinned, unbothered, like this was the funniest damn thing in the world. “Relax. He’ll walk away.”
But Jason didn’t walk away. He sighed. “If you’re hiding from Zoe Brewer, good luck. Woman’s scary as hell.”
Forest’s chuckle rumbled against my throat. “He’s not wrong.”
I smacked his arm, whispering furiously, “Quiet!”
Footsteps retreated, and the hallway went still. My heart hammered, adrenaline spiking from more than just the danger outside these walls.
Forest leaned in again, lips brushing mine, eyes dark with amusement. “Told you he wouldn’t catch us.”
I tried to scowl, but my voice came out a shaky whisper. “You think this is funny?”
“Hell yes.” He kissed me hard, stealing the rest of my outrage.
And even though I swore this was just lust, deep down I already knew—I was lying to myself. That would always be my secret; I refused to become involved with a former Navy SEAL.
