TODAY, THINGS FEEL strange with Seb. I accompany the coven to Brew-Ha and help them open up, content on going to the library after.

I keep trying to show Seb displays of affection, but he subtly rebukes them.

I was under the impression that the coven was accepting of the homosexual lifestyle?

At times, it seems like Lisbeth actively wants Seb and me to be intimately entwined.

I assume we are going to get together. Or are we already a couple? What is the courting ritual of the twenty-first century?

Most importantly, does Seb want it? Feeling him in my arms, having him lull me to sleep with head rubs, and engaging in sexual activity is…perfection.

But things are different today. Perhaps there is something I am missing in modern-day courtship. When I walk out of Brew-Ha, I take in the cool autumn air. I turn around to see Seb studying me through the glass door. He swiftly avoids my gaze and scrutinizes an already clean table.

I laugh softly and walk to the library. Clearly, he has desires for me. I just need to make him see that I want to fulfill those desires. He is my lion’s mate; I can feel it in my bones. Now, much research must be done.

That night, I conjure a tasty dinner of siomai and rice noodles.

The conversation is as pleasant as ever, and I truly feel like I belong here at Boysen House.

Seb’s smiles seem at times forced, but perhaps he had a difficult shift today.

After the meal, he claims he needs to call his parents in privacy outside.

I am willing to give my mate as much space as he needs before I set my plan into motion.

I wait patiently on Seb’s bed, which now feels like our bed, a space we share together. He finishes chatting with his parents, then Lisbeth, and then showers. At long last, we have our alone time.

When Seb walks into the room, I stand up and beam at him. Nervousness and arousal course through my veins, and I play with my fingers. I have never felt this way about courtship before, but I’ve never wanted anyone, body and soul, this way.

“Sebastian!”

“Hey, Kai.” He gives me an uneasy smile, then walks to his dresser. I only stare at his backside for a moment before shaking my head. “What’s up?”

“I have something to show you.”

“Oh?”

“My, um…surprise for you is outside,” I say.

“Really?”

I nod. “Yes, get your coat and meet me at the window.” I slowly climb out of the bedroom window that faces the dark forest.

When Seb joins me, I help him hop out of the room. “Look, Kai, I need to tell you something.”

“First, behold.” I point to my surprise on a patch of grass. “I made this.”

“You…what…woah!” Seb’s eyebrows bounce, and he squints his eyes multiple times. When he looks at me, I nod. “Is that…?”

“Yes. It is a conjured carpet.” The thick fabric tapestry on the ground has intricate purple, gold, and red patterns sewn on it. The carpet is about double the area of Seb’s bed. Appropriate considering what I intend tonight.

“It’s beautiful.” Seb sits on it and rubs the purple and red fabric. “So soft…”

I sit next to him and grin. “That is not all. I read a fairytale book that described this as…a shining, shimmering courtship ritual.”

“A what?”

I clap my hands and magic falls down, like shiny green dust particles from my palms. When the arcana touches the fabric, the carpet begins to rise.

Seb startles and holds on to me, but the enchantment works perfectly.

In seconds, we’ve ascended into the clouds.

We’re almost a kilometer into the sky, where no mortal or wizard can find us.

Seb, meanwhile, looks bewildered at the ground below and then at me. “Wha…what?”

“I hope you enjoy this magic carpet ride.”

Seb stares at me, awe and wonder written on his face. Enchanted air and clouds dance around us, so we will not be seen by the flying devices. Seb and I are far from everything else in existence. The stars shine in his eyes, and the moonlight bathes him in a heavenly glow. “Kai, this is…amazing.”

I caress his cheek. “All the best for you. Because you, Sebastian Suarez, are worth it.” I lean in and kiss him gently. “Now what was it that you wanted to tell me?”

He looks around, then shakes his head. “I don’t deserve you,” he whispers.

I smile, and my eyes threaten to tear up. “You deserve so much, Sebastian.” I kiss him again and gradually lay his head down. Our tongues come into play, and my body covers his.

When I pull off for air, I gaze at him. He looks at me with conflict, fear, adoration, and desire. “I want us to make love. Here, in the stars,” I say.

He gasps, then nods. “Yes. I would like that.”

We both chuckle and continue to kiss. My hardness threatens to rip my trousers, and I’m rubbing up against him in the most delicious way. But we both need more.

I sit up and take my clothes off. Slowly, Seb does the same. Before I can kiss him again, he glances at my wrist. “Wait. Could you, um, take that off?”

I grin and pull off my protection bracelet. “For you, anything.” I toss it away to a far corner of the carpet and chuckle.

“You…don’t need it. Ever. It’s not sexy, so please, don’t—” I cut off his words with another kiss. He moans and lies back with my hand behind his head.

As we kiss, my pulse rises. Seb tastes so good. Our cocks come to full hardness, but I want more than just rubbing together.

I break away, and we both catch our breaths. “Sebastian,” I whisper.

“Kai.” He caresses my cheek.

“I, um…” My face burns, and I look away. “I read about…safe sex prophylaxis, and, um…”

Seb snickers and pulls my head so that I’m looking into his brown eyes again. “It’s okay. I trust you. You’ve been gone for so long, and I tested negative a few months ago.”

I grin, satisfied that Seb knows what I want to say. “Perfect.” I peck his lips. “I want it all with you.”

“Now I’m extra glad I bathed before we came here.” He laughs softly, and his breath fans my face. “But I wish I’d brought lube.”

“You mean lubrication?” I flick my wrist and conjure a bottle of intimacy oil. The internet is a trove of knowledge, and I researched all about sex in the twenty-first century.

Seb beams in delight. “My, my, aren’t you a Boy Scout?”

“I am no scout. I am the Jade Lion, expert mage.”

He titters as we kiss, and his hands trail down to my glutes. “Then show me you’re an expert.” He kisses my neck, and my hard cock twitches. “Fuck me, Kai. Right here in the clouds.”

A more beautiful sentence has never been uttered.

I get to work prepping him, satisfied that he is clean all over.

I use two fingers in and out, scissoring them, and earning an appreciative moan.

I lean down and lick his lubed hole. His entrance is so ready for me, but after a minute, he moans and lifts his hips up.

“What?”

“Kai, please,” he whines. His eyes are shut, and he strokes himself off. “Just do it already.”

I know what he wants. I lick up his cock, then hoist his ankles. “As you wish.” In moments, I’m lined up, slick and oily, and with my hips, I…

“Ooohh…” I rasp.

Seb feels so good. And sliding into him slowly feels even better than I imagined. When I pull out and thrust in again, we both moan at the same time.

Our union is perfectly in sync. Is this what it feels like to unite with your soulmate? This must be it, because I can think of no better sensation.

I fuck into him, fast then slow, taking time to occasionally stroke his cock. The carpet is soft yet firm, making the ride an easy one. The world could shatter around us, but as long as I have Seb, life would feel like a dream state.

After too short a time, my thrusts get more erratic. My kisses grow sloppier, and Seb strokes himself faster.

“Ah…Kai, I’m…ah!” Hearing the breathy, desperate noises from his mouth drives me wild. I grow primal, fucking him with abandon. He’s so close, and I need him to have that pleasure.

“Oh…I’m about to…fuck!” he yelps. When his body tenses up, it lights a match in the powder keg of my soul.

We both orgasm, and I grunt as I kiss him.

I shoot into him, and he shoots all over himself.

As always, it’s a perfect, beautiful synchronicity between me and Seb.

High in the sky, bathed in the stars, the two of us climax while making love.

The next several minutes are a blur as I resume controlling the flying carpet.

We both clean up with conjured towels, get dressed, and I pocket my protection bracelet.

I get us down to Earth, get rid of the conjured fabrics, and we hop in through the window.

All evidence of our tryst is gone, thanks to my magic, and Seb’s looks of awe and affection have only grown.

I kiss his neck as I hold him in the bed, exhausted and satisfied. It’s a comfort I’ve never known.

“Thank you,” he whispers.

“No, thank you,” I say through a yawn. “You have given me more than I could have ever asked for.”

“Right back at you, kitty.” He reaches behind me and rubs the back of my head, and we both laugh softly. As sleep overtakes us, I know for the first time in years that I’m exactly where I ought to be.
