Page 40 of Interstellar Love Song (Villains in Space #3)

I created the companion glossary below, to hopefully enhance your (unhinged) reading experience of Interstellar Love Song (and keep scrolling for some science ho-specific definitions…).

Amalgamation: The action or process of uniting or merging two or more things (like Stellarians and Lacertus, etc… Other Ziggy did not mean this as a compliment)

Apotelesma (Latin): The effect of the stars on human destiny. Stellaria’s largest moon.

Astrum Force Command: The fictional military dictatorship of Stellaria and Ziggy’s former/current employer as a mercenary.

The old (evil) Astrum Force was dismantled at the end of Earth Boys and recently relaunched as the benevolent (but still violent, when needed) fighting force of Stellaria , with Honnor as the new Head Commander.

Borque: A fictional alien species that is tall and lean, with a glossy, chestnut brown pelt and vampire-length canines (despite being vegetarian).

Think a cross between a Wookie and a Sasquatch, but sexier.

They also possess two dicks, complete with knots, although DP is highly discouraged due to the girth (cue sad Micah face).

Caelestis (Latin): The literal translation is celestial, of or in the heavens/sky, heavenly/divine. This is the classification that Stellarians, Eki, Musaa, Markarians, etc. belong to simply because they have the ability to access the Collective Well .

Celestial Cube: A fictional device that resembles an all-white Rubik’s cube, where the various squares are tapped in just the right order to activate different functions and engage weapons.

Cloaca (Latin): An orifice that serves as an opening for reproduction (among other things…) in certain species, like birds and sharks.

Cojones (Spanish): A man’s testicles. Also used colloquially to speak of the size of one’s courage (and Ziggy’s cojones are unmatched).

Collective Well: The in-between space where certain, awakened species can access visions/prophesies and, at times, communicate with each other.

Corpus Spongiosum (Latin): A column of spongy tissue that runs through the shaft (body) and glans (head) of the penis, and surrounds the urethra.

It contains blood vessels that fill with blood to help make an erection and keep the urethra open during the erection.

Since you’re in this deep, you may as well Google it.

Also: Micah’s favorite Stellarian street food.

Deathball: A fictional supe sport that’s a cross between American football, rugby, and MMA (mixed martial arts).

Ziggy was playing it as part of his cover on Earth (to keep a close watch on Zion Salah, who also played), but he also enjoyed the violent (although not violent enough) outlet it provided.

Dionaea muscipula (Latin): Aka, Venus Flytrap, a carnivorous plant native to the temperate and subtropical wetlands of North Carolina and South Carolina, on the East Coast of the United States (or… the planet of Dionaea , depending on who you ask).

Drugg: A fictional alien warrior species, where the females are the most dominant in society—being larger and more fearsome than the males. Found on the planet of Druggari.

Eki: A fictional alien species whose appearance is undocumented, thanks to their identity-shielding, glittery space wizard robes (which may or may not have been loosely based on the Dinks from Spaceballs) .

The Eki have “matter manipulation” powers suspiciously close to Micah’s (the ability to create anything from inorganic matter), and our boys discover some shocking truths while visiting their planet (which will be explored more in book 3!).

The planet they inhabit is Ekistron, which suffered an ice age at some point in history, forcing the Eki underground, to their lava-fueled Nuclei City.

Episcia (Latin): An African violet (or… sentient vegetation sold as a “vegetarian” wrap option at the bazaars).

Gaia (Greek): In Greek mythology, the personification of Earth—the ancestral mother of all life. Also what many alien species refer to Earth as.

Genero (Latin): Creation. One of Stellaria’s three moons.

Genus (Latin): A taxonomic rank above species and below family as used in the biological classification of living and fossil organisms as well as viruses.

Gup-gup: Fictional, spiny fruit with large leaves that are often used as plates for street food in the bazaar.

Hatini: A fictional alien meal first encountered in Earth Boys on Kaalanesea—an “unexciting grain dessert puréed with spices and topped with local fruits,” according to Ziggy.

Hydrassian: A fictional alien species with a scaled, humanoid body (with lizard hands, feet, and claws) and six Hydra-style snake-heads. They possess psychic and prophetic powers and are sought out by other species for their predictions (especially for the outcomes of battles).

Idik: A fictional alien species that is green-skinned, tall and willowy, with angular faces, pointed ears, and almond-shaped eyes.

Intergalactic Highway: Exactly what it sounds like. The ambiguous thoroughfare used by space travelers to traverse the galaxies.

Interitus (Latin): Destruction. One of Stellaria’s three moons.

Invenio-Astralis (Latin): Genius related to the stars. In this universe, it’s directional coordinates to the galaxy containing Stellaria and its three moons.

Inventus (Latin): Find/discover. Perfect passive participle of invenio and the word used to describe supe soulmates.

Irathians: A fictional, flesh-eating species of alien who Stellarians don’t consider a threat in the least.

Kaala: A fictional alien species, always born as twins who remain together for life.

Micah (me) eloquently describes Kaalas as having alien emoji faces with silver skin covered with a thin layer of velvet, like a young buck’s growing antlers.

And while their bodies are fairly humanoid, their hands consist of only three fingers and their feet have no toes at all.

Kaalanesea is their home planet while Kaalanesean is their “tinkling chimes” language.

Kanrienus: A fictional planet created from inorganic material by Leeloo and their fellow Eki , for the True Eki who wanted to live a more simple (powerless) life.

Karn: The fictional planet where Trols originate from (interesting that it’s named after the stone inside them, hmm?), but not much more is known, since the Eki hid it behind a cloaking shield to protect the Trols from extinction.

Karnilian: A fictional stone found inside Trols, characterized by its glowing red color and almost maddening “pull” to those who encounter it. This stone is highly coveted as the Hydrassians can supposedly use it in their rituals to predict (or, determine…) the outcome of battles.

Lacertus (Latin): In this case, it’s derived from lacerta (“lizard”) and is a lizard-like species that originally landed on Earth during the Stone Age.

In the Villainous Things series ( Gentlemen Prefer Villains, specifically), we see cave drawings of them, with wings and claws and faces that look like the Incan god Supay.

Micah’s eldest brother Zion looks like a (smaller) version of Lacertus when he’s in his supe form.

In this book we also get to visit the aquatic planet of Lacertus, a convenient stop on the Intergalactic Highway, multiple rows of piers had been built for the visiting species who couldn’t breathe underwater.

The differentiation between the two is that the species is italicized and the planet name is not.

Markarians: The progenitor of the Caelestis family tree. Perhaps what the Markarian's Chain stretch of galaxies (which contain a supermassive black hole) were named after? Possibly also Planet Eaters…

Maroxian: A fictional alien species described as vaguely humanoid, only because they are bipedal.

They are as close to a xenomorph as copyright allows possible, with an inky-black exoskeleton, sleek aerodynamic head, disconcerting lack of eyes and an extremely impressive tongue (Micah approves—when it’s Ziggy).

They also have sharp fangs and claws, a tail, and a cock-cage like structure surrounding other appendages (MICAH DEFINITELY APPROVES!).

They live on the planet Marox and eat most every other species, which is why Stellarians are needed to go up against them ( and why Ziggy insisted on Micah staying with the ship).

Mirari-Mirus (Latin): Both words translate to amazing/wonder. Also the name of the galaxy where Xuniaa YS, Ekistron (and Kanrienus ) are located.

Muonova: A chain of fictional, city-sized, floating rest-stops along the Intergalactic Highway , which include bars, by-the-hour hotel rooms, red-light districts, sprawling markets, and more…

Musaa: Fictional offspring in the Caelestis line, specifically created to capture planets for the Markarians to devour.

Nova (Latin): New. What Stellarians call their young. Also an astronomic term given to bright stars that appear suddenly in the sky and release powerful energy.

Nuclei (Latin) City: A fictional lava-fueled, alien city located beneath the snowy surface of Ekistron.

While it probably started with existing caverns and lava tubes, the Eki used their matter manipulation powers to create not only the structures but everything they needed to be a self-sufficient society.

Ogorn’s milk: A fictional alien beverage that I never fully explain (but I feel like we can all agree on what this might be, hmm?).

Osarius: Fictional planet inhabited by the Os’os , who live in a feudal system ruled over by land-owning overlords (similar to medieval society on Earth).

Parasitic symbiosis (Greek root): A symbiotic relationship in which a symbiote lives all or part of its life in or on a living host, usually benefiting while harming the host in some way.

Photon Hexes (Hexahedron): A version of the Celestial Cube the Eki created for themselves, minus the more deadlier functions.
