THE RED WOLF
I was in a building full of humans, their surprise and fear coating the air with a heavy stink. I didn’t have time to deal with them, though. My pack was under attack, and my omega was in danger.
Protect. Fight. Rip out their throats.
The crowd parted as I raced out of the room.
“Well at least the mayor is taking the cat problem seriously...”
I hurled myself through the doors – why did humans even have those? – and towards my den. They were there. They needed help. My omega was calling for me through our bond.
I ignored the lights, large machines, and loud horns, taking the most direct way back that I could. Humans could shout all they wanted; I didn’t care about them right now. Their wolves were still sleeping. They couldn’t understand.
Another shape made its way towards me, turning to run by my side as I got closer.
A dark wolf.
I leapt in front of his path and snarled. Intruder! Attacker!
The dark wolf snapped at me. Not me. Blood takers.
The blood takers… They were here to take back our omega.
Tonight, we fight together , he said.
Alone? No pack? One wolf could help, but more would be better.
He chuffed. Alone, but enough .
