Page 53 of How to Romance an Incubus
“Oh,” was all I could think to say. But I managed to unstick my feet and start walking again.
Jinx signed something that took me a few moments to recall what it meant.
“I’m not a snob!” I exclaimed in outrage.
Jinx just grinned and went up on his toes to give me a quick kiss on the nose. Then he disappeared into the crowded bar.
Grumbling, I trailed after him. It was noisy inside, and chaotic and joyous. After a short while, I realized I loved it. Everyone looked so vibrant and happy.
I hadn’t talked to my parents or anyone from the magic community since that last awful dinner party. I couldn’t say I really missed anyone. Maybe I should start socializing in this community instead. It certainly seemed more accepting, warm and fun. Ezme would love it.
Suddenly there was a great deal of excitement by the stage. I wandered over. The pink-haired groom was standing on the platform with his bouquet and a whole group of guests were good-naturedly jostling each other for the best position. I grinned until I saw Jinx was in the thick of it, then a whole barrage of emotions stormed through me.
The groom teasingly twirled around the pole that was on the stage and the grace with which he did so, told me he was a dancer. Then he suddenly tossed the bouquet into the crowd. Everyone shrieked, jumped and scrambled. I couldn’t help but laugh.
Then Jinx was bounding through the crowd up to me. His prize in his hands. He had caught the bouquet. He grinned at me over it. Sheer delight making his gorgeous amber eyes sparkle.
How could I possibly resist?
