Chapter 29

Jimazu

M y cock swells before emptying into my mate. Her walls clamp down on me and it feels like they’re milking every drop from me. Her fingers slip out of my cock pocket as my orgasm slows. I place a soft kiss on her neck before I slip my cock from her warmth. I look around the kitchen for something that I can use to clean her up.

“Be right back, stay there.” I drop another kiss to the top of my mate’s head, then walk to the bathroom and open the cabinet I noticed while Darcy was showing me around. It only takes me a couple of seconds to locate a clean cloth. I turn to the sink that Darcy pointed out and mess with the metal spout until the water turns warm, then hold the cloth underneath it. I give it a quick squeeze before turning the water back off. I reach back into the cabinet and grab a second cloth.

Darcy is still standing where I left her with her front against the white counter. She’s bent over, her head resting on her folded arms atop the counter. I approach her then bend down. Not wanting the wet cloth to startle her, I warn her. “This is going to be warm and wet, little mate.”

Several swipes later, my cum is no longer sticky on her thighs or lower lips. I drop the wet rag onto the floor, then use the clean one to dry off her legs and pussy. I place a quick kiss on her bare ass cheek before pulling her pants and panties up. Collecting the dirty rags, I stand back up and head back to the bathroom to toss them in the corner. I return to the cooking area Darcy called the kitchen. My mate has moved from the counter, bowls in hand, to the fire. I go to her side and offer to hold the bowls so she can fill them with the stringy food she’s prepared for us.

I move to take my first bite, but Darcy stops me. “Wait! It’s still too hot, and I need to add the seasonings first. The plain noodles are gross.” I lift an eyebrow at her, but she waves me off. She picks up a small, shiny packet off the floor and rips it open before pouring its contents into my bowl. “Stir it around to mix the seasoning in. Then blow on it a bit before you try it.”

Before I do as instructed, I’m rewarded with a delightful scent that makes my own stomach announce how empty it is. Darcy grins up at me as she stirs her own food. I watch her as she grabs a metal utensil that’s narrow on one end, the opposite end is wider with four sharp, thin tines. She stabs the wide end into her noodles, then spins the skinny end in circles before lifting it up. Her lips purse and form an oh as she blows on her food in an attempt to cool it off. I repeat her motions, and as I’m blowing on my own food, she opens her lips wider and uses her pink tongue to slide the noodles of her utensil.

Her eyes roll to the back of her head as my all-time favorite sound escapes her. My cock stirs within its pocket, but at the same time my stomach rumbles. I take my first bite of noodles. A flavor I’m unfamiliar with hits my tongue. It’s odd at first; a combination of sweet and salty that I’ve never experienced. The noodles are soft and don’t require much chewing. More than once, they slide right down my throat.

A satisfied groan leaves me once I’ve finished my noodles. “That was fantastic, Darcy. Thank you.”

Her head shakes. “You aren’t quite done yet. The broth is my favorite part. Just tip your bowl and you can drink what’s left.” The side of her bowl meets her parted lips and I watch her swallow it down. The sight brings wicked thoughts to my mind, and I fight the urge to bat away her bowl and replace it with my cock.

I bring my own bowl to my lips and taste the broth, realizing that my mate was absolutely correct. It’s rich and flavorful as it slides down my throat. The liquid warms my insides as it fills my belly. When my bowl is finally empty, the last dregs of broth nothing more than a flavorful memory, I lower my bowl. Darcy reaches for my face and her thumbs wipes a few drops of broth from my beard. She pops her thumb into her own mouth and sucks it clean before grinning at me.

“All done, little mate?” I ask, my hand hovering between us. She hands me her empty bowl and utensil, and I collect my own before rising to my hooves. I take our dishes to the kitchen and rinse them out using the water spout that Darcy used to fill the large pot. I return to my mate’s side and sit back down. She scoots closer to my side and drops her head onto my arm.

“So, we’ve broken in the kitchen several ways. What do you say I introduce you to the luxury of a hot shower? Or, we can go outside and explore the garden area and start planning what we want to plant in the spring? Oh! Or we could take a long nap in our comfy looking bed?”

I think for a few moments, and it doesn’t take me too long to decide which I want to do first. “What if we scope out the garden first, then take a shower, followed by sleep?”

“I like this plan. It wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense to shower before playing around out in the garden.”

Together we stand and head outside. Darcy has her phone in her hand and her fingers move rapidly across the front of it. I watch her in silence for a moment. Her dark eyebrows furrow then relax, repeatedly. Her tongue pokes out the corner of her mouth and her eyes bounce between her phone and the yard in front of us.

“What are concentrating on so intently, little mate?” I finally ask.

“Hmm? Oh, I’m putting together a spreadsheet with ideas for the garden as well as looking up every single plant, fruit, and vegetable that can grow in the climate here. Come here, I’ll show you everything I’ve got so far.”

I step behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist and dropping my chin on the top of her head. She tilts her phone so that I can see the screen. The various boxes full of words make no sense to me and cause me to shake my head. “I don’t understand what I’m looking at.”

Darcy points to each line and explains what they all say. “This column lists the names of each vegetable, fruit, or plant. This one is the best month to plant them. This one is how often they need watered. And this one is whether they need replanted the following year or will grow back on their own.”

“And what do you have so far?”

Her eyes scan down the first column as she reads them out loud to me. “Potatoes and squash, which we already know can grow here. Eggplants, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, corn, and peas are the vegetables. The fruits are blueberries, cherries, cantaloupe, as well as several apples and strawberries.” Her finger continues going down the column. “Then we have a couple of teas that we can grow here like lemon verbena, peppermint, lemon balm, rosemary, and lavender.”

I’m nearly lost for words as my eyes continue scanning her thorough list. “How were you able to come up with that much so fast? We’ve only been outside for a couple of minutes.”

Darcy laughs softly. “This is what I like doing. Researching and compiling data into lists. It’s why Lex and Frankie put me in charge of cryptid research.”

My head shakes in disbelief. “You are incredible, you know that?” I shift my head and place a kiss in her hair.

She giggles again, and I swear I’ll never get over the adorable sound. “Not that I think it’s going to have many issues, but I kind of want to check the soil while we’re out here and the weather is still agreeable. That way I’ll know what to expect come spring.” She tips her head up so that she’s looking at me upside down.

“Lead the way, you seem to know more about all of this than I do. I just plant and pray for the best.” One of my shoulders lifts and drops and I loosen my arms around her waist.

She steps forward to the large garden area and drops to her knees on the ground. She places her hands palms down on the packed soil and digs her fingertips into it the best she can. I watch her silently, despite the amount of questions I now have.

She flexes her fingers deeper into the soil for a moment before withdrawing them completely. She dusts her hands by clapping them together, then stands and faces me. “I don’t think we’re going to have any issues getting the soil prepped before we start planting everything in a few months. We should probably go ahead and turn the top layer of soil over once now before it gets too cold and snows. Then we’ll need to do it again after the snow is done for the season in a few months.” Her pointer finger taps against her chin as she thinks. “We need some kind of tiller. A gas roto-tiller would be perfect, but we’re not exactly in town and able to access gas easily. So, a basic, manual tiller will work. I’ll add that to my list of items we need from town.”

My mate pulls her phone back out and types again, adding to her list. “There. I’m done playing in the dirt, for now.” She huffs out a breath. “Want to take a peek in the outbuilding and see what, if anything, is inside?” Her hand points to the building a short distance away.

“Let’s go.” I reach for her hand, and she allows me to take it before we head to the building. It’s old, though not nearly as old as I am, and made of thick slats of wood. The lightweight door barely creaks as we swing it open. There are two windows, on opposite walls, letting plenty of light in. The shed isn’t large, but it isn’t small either. I step inside onto the dirt packed floor. It almost reminds me of the food storage room in my cave, except it’s not frigid in here. I spin in a slow circle and take it all in. The walls are covered in various tools and utensils. Some of them are rusty from years of disuse while others appear to be fairly new.

Darcy follows me inside and carefully inspects each of the tools. She takes them down one at a time and turns them over and around in her hands before hanging them back up. Her entire being is lit up with a joy that I haven’t yet witnessed. It’s contagious and I feel my own face light up with a huge smile. “I take it from your reaction that you’re pleased with the contents of the shed?”

Her head bobs up and down emphatically. “Yes! It has everything we could possibly need to grow a garden that will sustain us all year!” Her excitement is infectious and I feel it carrying over to me. My grin is nearly as wide as hers at this point.

“I don’t recognize most of the tools aside from the shovels. What are the rest of them?” I point towards the ones I’m unsure of, and there are quite a few.

Darcy holds up the one in her hand, it has a long wooden handle and the end of it has four curved tines with sharp points. “This is the hand tiller. It’s what we’ll use to turn over the soil.” She returns it to its home on the wall and pulls another off. It has what looks to be a sharpened blade attached to the bottom of the wooden handle. “This is a hoe. It’s used to break up the soil before you use the tiller.”

She hangs it up again and pulls something with a short handle and narrow, flat blade off the wall. “Spades are used to dig holes. They’re similar to shovels, but shovels are also used to move soil or rocks. Spades are just for digging.” Back to the wall it goes, and another is removed. This one looks like the utensil we used to eat our noodles. “Garden fork. It’s like a tiller, but used in smaller spaces.” The fork is placed back on the wall and something else taken down.

“That looks like it could be used to stab things…” My brows furrow as I take in the tool in my mates hands. She chuckles and nods. “You’re not wrong. It’s a dibber, and it’s used to poke holes in the soil so that you can plant seedlings.”

I shake my head as I look around once again. There are two of every tool she explained and I’m once again in awe of the Wild God.
